Question about Fisher and Paykel DEGX1 Electric Dryer

Dryer won't heat

Fisher Paykel dryer only about 3 years old will not longer heat. All the buttons function or light up and the dryer will run for a correct time frame, but NO HEAT, none at all! Think it is the heating element, but don't have a clue where to begin looking for it or how easy it is to replace.

Less than a month after you, I'm having the identical problem. They dryer runs through its normal cycle, blowing air, but it is not heating. I use an aluminum vent pipe, so you can feel if the exhaust has any warmth. There's none, whatsoever. It's as if it's on the air dry cycle, but I've triple-checked that it is not on that cycle.

I have the same problem at this time. I have to take off the front panel and reset a small circular breaker about 18 inches from the right side on the bottom of the drum. I currently have higher voltage to my dryer circuit than I should have. Over time this I beleive has weakened the breaker. So I need to replace it. Ken

I have the same problem. There is no front panel on my dryer. Have no heat. Everything else seems to work.

The dryer operator entry panel accepts entries and the lights indicate the dryer is functioning normally.  The door latches shut and the dryer starts and runs like it is supposed to -- there just isn't any heat.

I have a F&P dryer DEGX1 about three years old , followed kristi's advice and it worked. There are two screws holding the information panel on, inside there is a schematic with instructions on how to put the dryer in diagnostic mode and how to take the front panel off. i reset the breaker located at the bottom of the front panel on the heating element box and put it back together and it worked.
My vent cover outside was frozen shut and this caused the breaker to blow saving the heater elements, am changing the vent cover to a different design to prevent this happening again

Coming back to this well oafter the fact, but I did get this problem fixed. As it turned out, the rotating lint screen on the left side of the drum had a hole in it, which allowed lint to get in and pack in around the heat sensor that is being the lint trap box. (the holes came from a pack of gum my teenage son left in his pocket...) I ended up replacing the lint screen with a new one, cleaned out the area around the sensor, and it has been working like a champ ever since. Much cheaper than replacing elements and breakers, that is for sure.

I had the same problem, it turn out to be the circuit breaker. Instead of putting out 220a it was only putting out 110, which was just enough to run everything but not dry. I put in new 220a breaker and it started to run like new.

Following Kristi2063's lead, I took the front panel off and hit the reset button, and miracle of miracles, the dryer is heating again. This is the third or fourth time it has happened with this machine, and the technician who comes out always says that the filter was blocked . . . even though I empty the filter faithfully.

F&P products are really service friendly. Id say take the back panel off and the element should be there behind a shield.

I have a fisher & Paykel electric dryer. D-DE62T27D that works but won't dry. Any solutions? Thanks Rick

Disconnect the power source to your dryer before you conduct this or any other test. Either unplug the unit from the wall outlet, remove the appropriate fuse from the fuse box, or flip the appropriate breaker in the circuit breaker panel.

Dryer heating elements come in various shapes and sizes. They are all strung with a coiled wire made of a nickel and a chrome alloy. This wire receives, but resists, a controlled electric current and as a result, the wire heats up. The heat produced is used to heat and dry the clothes in your dryer.
Once you have gained access to your dryer's heating element, set your multimeter to the R x 1 resistance scale. Touch each meter probe and to one end of the element. If you receive a reading of infinite resistance, then your heating element is no longer functioning properly and you will have to replace it.

The model of my Fisher Paykel dryer is DEIX2 and it runs but doesn't get hot. It's four years old. Would it be cheaper to replace than repair? Thanks.

Hi,

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....

If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

check out this electric no heat tip...

My fisher paykel dryer is 3 1/2 year old. It works fine on med and low heat. On high heat, it heats up too much and turns itself off

clean the dryer of lint inside and also the vent tube:

Heats when unit is not on

Same thing just happened to my DEGX1. I took it apart and one of the heating elements had broken and fell to the bottom of the metal case. I think it was creating a short to ground and making it heat. I removed the broken element wires and attached them back best I could and did a test run with no problems. It is not heating when off now either. searspartsdirect.com had the elements for $67 so I ordered a set and will replace both of them (part #395583). My dryer is only 4 years old and 3 weeks ago the driver belt broke. Irritating they can't make them last any longer these days.

Dryer run but no heat

Try pushing the reset button located inside the dryer housing. (Remove top, then outer housing 'wrap around', reset button is behind the outer 'wrap around' metal in the front of the dryer.)

Venting a dryer outside

What do you need to reverse?
I understand that the wall kit is to blow the heated air from the dryer to outside therefore not humidifying the laundry.

Are you trying to draw air into the dryer from outside or blow the air outside?
