SOURCE: Dropping Feed dogs on kenmore model 19233

Pull out the removable table and you will see the drop down feed dogs switch lever behind the back of the machine. Move that lever to the left or right to have feed dogs go back to normal sewing mode OR for embroidery mode.

SOURCE: How to Drop Feed Dogs on Sewing Machine...

On many machines you tilt the machine back on its hinges to see the underside and there you will find a thumbscrew to lower the feed dogs...you also need to be sure that your machine is capable of having its feed dogs lowered...not all machines can do this!

Is it an older mechanical? If so, probably needs a good cleaning and oiling. The old oil has turned to goo and is sticking moving parts together.

How do I cover the feed dogs for free motion embroidery

1. The machine on newer machines have a switch in front of the removable tray. It must be switched to shut down the feed dogs.
2. On older machines adjust the length of stitch to zero.

Feed dog not feeding

The machine needs to be with a stitch length above zero.

If the machine has a switch that makes your machine go into free arm that will also cause this.

The only other thing is a mechanical problem which will need to be repaired.

Feed dogs won't move

No info on the sewing machine make or model. It sounds like something is binding up, is bent, or is tangled in the machine. Look around the front and back of the sewing area for a switch to lower the feed dogs.

Good luck

Possible broken feed dog on a White sewing machine

you can either take it to a sewing machine shop & have them check it or

or try sewingpartsonline.com or premiersewing.com

if you try one of the websites, look for the name of the machine first & then click on it & then look for the model number & see if they have the part
normally it's a feed dog lever or knob

Feed dogs not moving properly

it's very possible that the feed dogs are out of time & the machine would have to be serviced at a sewing machine repair shop

I put the feed dogs down and now they won't go back up, what do I do now?

The feed dogs are driven by the feed driver mechanism, turn the hand-wheel forward and the feed dogs will come up. (Providing you have the feed dog switch to the up position).

I have a necchi model 575FA, and the needle will not advance any idea why?

if the sewing machine is not sewing & staying in one spot the that means the feed dogs are not working properly.
I also have a necchi sewing machine, check the needle plate area that's where the feed dogs are, if the feed dogs are up where you can see them & even feel them with you fingers when you rub your fingers over the needle plate area, if you can't see them good or feel them, then they are not up,,my instruction book shows that you have to remove the extension table, their should be a small door in front of the needle plate area to open that's where the feed dogs are if they are not in the up position, where you can sew, if they are in the down position move the lever to the opposite direction & see if that help the machine to sew, if it make makes no difference which position there in , then it's possible something is wrong with the feed dogs & the machine needs to be serviced

Feed dogs will not raise, I have lifted the presser foot, pushed the feed dog lever to the raised positon and turned the handwheel till i heard the click. They still will not snap into place in the raissed...

Hello

First, lift the presser foot; next, push the feed dog lever to the raised position; finally, turn the handwheel towards you until you hear the feed dogs snap into place

If it doesn't, you will have to run a maintenance check on your feed dogs,

Unplug the machine and examine the feed dogs. The newer machines have metal feed dogs, but older models may have rubber ones, which often need replacing. Examine the feed dogs and check for damage.

Remove the throat plate, which is the covering over the feed dogs, and clean it with a soft cloth. Use a small soft brush to clean the feed dogs. Make sure to remove all lint and thread from the grooves of the teeth. Some machines have an adjustment that lowers the feed dogs for specific sewing procedures. They should be in the raised position for better viewing during the cleaning process.

Clean the area around the feed dogs with a soft brush. Compressed air is a good choice to use in the small tight areas.

Wipe down all areas with a clean, lint free cloth before replacing the throat plate.

Prepare to clean the feed dogs and all other areas that lint may accumulate on, after every project. Your sewing machine will last longer and need fewer repairs if kept clean and lint free.

Always unplug the sewing machine before any type of maintenance or cleaning.

Never use a sharp tool when cleaning the feed dogs as this may cause damage to the sewing machine.
