A fully charged battery should be over 12 volts. You may need to change your batteries.

SOURCE: pride victory Scooter battery charged won't run

Its probably too late to give my opinion, but here goes anyway.
I had a similar problem with my mothers scooter and it turned out to be a faulty connection on the wires leading to the motor. I simply pulled the plastic connection apart, cleaned and lubricated the contacts, refitted the connection and all was well.

All scooters have a protection system built in to prevent burning up the motor, and the user, should the scooter overheat. It sounds like yours overheated. If the temp. outside was warm to hot, and your weight is near the weight limit for the scooter, and you are taxing the motors over a hill, or unstable terrain, then the scooter goes into "limp home mode", or just enough to get you a bit aways, and then it will turn off. After a few minutes to cool off, it will go again, but shut down fairly quickly because it takes a spell to let the whole transaxle-motor assembly to get cool.

Check your weight, and anything else you may be carrying with you on the scooter. Check the terrain, and incline you are going against. Throttle down for all these occassions. If you overloaded the system at some point, then you may have overheated the brushes. Remove them (2) with a standard screwdriver and see if the copper coil is still flexible and springy. If not, replace it/them.

The damage may already be done, so it may need a new motor/transaxle assembly. An expensive proposition I'm afraid.

SOURCE: pride celebrity deluxe comfortcoach 1v problem-

Usually when a scooter dies, there is an event that preceded the dead state that caused the fault. What were you doing before it went dead?

The biggest culprit for scooters and power chairs is moisture. With a scooter, there are two components most susceptible. One is located inside the top of the tiller and it is an electonics board about 6"x4" in size. If you had the scooter out in the rain without protection over the tiller, water can encroach into this area and short the board. Or, a coke or coffee spill can short it. There's a fuse on the board and if it is blown, then likely the board is shot as the fuse merely keeps the tiller from going into a total meltdown in the event of a short. Boards run about $25.00 to $45.00 to replace. Inspect it and look for any signs of overheating or corrosive buil-up and see if the fuse has blown.

The second component is located under the shroud beneath the seat. It is a small metal box which is the power control module and it controls all of the operations of the scooter. It has several wires going into and coming out of it (on-board chargers for some scooters will only have one wire going in and one coming out, sometimes two). These boxes are water resistant, but are susceptible to damage if the scooter has been run through a puddle and a lot of water has splashed up onto it. These are several hundred dollars to replace, but first check all of the fuses coming off the batteries that will lead from the battery to this control box and insure that it isn't a blown fuse. These fuses generally don't blow unless the scooter was operated beyond its capabilities, like driving it in sand, mud or other unstable terrain that puts an enormous strain on the motor and pulling a lot of juice from the batteries. Finally, check all of the connections that clip together. Don't rely on a visual inspection, take them apart, and reconnect them all to insure a good, tight fit.

Hope this helps.

His I've a victory xl mobility scooter and constantly red flashing on battery meter and don't charge battery's properly can u help cheers

Hi, at a guess I would say that your batteries possibly no longer hold a charge. If the scooter has been provided for you get the organisation who gave it to you to check it over, they should service it for you.
There is a link below for the website that provides an owners manual, this may help you troubleshoot the problem
If you need anything else please post another query.

I can leave it plugged in for 24 hours and not have a full charge. Is this the batteries or the on board charger

There are a few things to consider with this type of problem.

How old are the batteries. When did you last have them tested. Is the charger output ok on load (test with an amp clamp type meter). is the charger the correct one for these batteries, small output chargers take longer to charge big batteries. Are all connection tight on batteries and anything to do with the charging circuit. Plug and socket type connection do fail on poor connections. Check voltage on batteries when on charge and off charge to see if the charger voltage is getting through to the batteries.

Batteries wont charge . Charger plugged in meter reads 13 volts . Not plugged in reads 5 volts. tried charging for 24 hours .

Your batteries may be old and no longer able to hold a charge. This can happen even on fairly new batteries. Especially if they sit for a period of time.

Needs a full overnight charge of at least 12 hours and left on charge even when the lights tell you it's is charged up.then get into the habit of running it right down to improve the storage stamina of battery.good idea to take charger out with you so if you get a chance to top it up somewhere whilst away from home.remember in cold weather these things can't travel as far.

My mother's scooter will not charge. The unit has been plugged in for over 24 hours with no change to the charged indicators. The horn works but the unit is not charging.

The horn requires very little energy to operate, so that is not a good indicator. Check all the wire connections. Take out the battery from the case and with a flashlight, check the terminals where the battery makes contact with the post of the unit. Carbon and oxidation can build up on these terminals very quickly if the scooter is used outside. Use a very fine sand paper to lightly remove this residue without removing the zinc plating then wipe with a clean cloth.

Wont hold a charge. Batteries checked out ok. Could it be a short? Is this common?

If the batteries have been volt tested OK and they wont hold a charge, check your charger to make sure it is functioning properly. If there was a short, the scooter most likely would not work or would give a flashing light code. Batteries typically will not hold a charge when they are damaged, have been sitting unused for a while or if there is a mechanical issue that is causing dtrain on the motors. Check the air pressure, bearings and ensure there is no noise or vibration that may indicate a motor failure. If all those check OK, replace the batteries.
Good luck!
