If the print out appears to have random black rectangles - the cause is the print head jamming due to a lack of lubrication.
Yes - I know there is a label that says - DO NOT OIL - THIS UNIT PERMANENTLY LUBRICATED - OILING VOIDS WARRANTY - ignore it, or if your printer is under warranty, get it serviced under warranty.
1) Unload the paper.
2) Switch the printer off, open the lid & remove the ribbon.
3) Remove the two screws that hold the front cover and remove it - the control panel cables are long enough to allow it to be moved to the right and rested.
4) Find the two carriage guide rails - usually shiny rods that run from left to right - and support the print head carriage.
5) Wipe the dirt and old lubricant off of the guide rails and add a few drops of light oil - gun oil, sewing machine oil or similar - slide the print head carriage left/right a few times to spread the oil, wipe clean and re-oil
6) Reassemble the printer.

SOURCE: Installed new windows 7 and
well thats because the driver is missing or isnt compitable with windows 7,, to verify this right click on computer, click properties and then device manager,, you will notice that there are a few (at least 1) device with a yellow highlight Or unknown Device ,, that means that the driver isnt installed or isnt compatible with windows 7, Now There is a chance it can be fixed and this involves using the windows up date software..
Click Start, then windows Updates, Check for updates and Install All UPDATES INCLUDING Optional Ones.. The drivers are found in the Optional Updates..
Of you can contact the manufacturer of the Matrix Printer and Inquire If They Have A windows 7 or windows Vista Driver (Windows Vista Drivers Do Work in win 7 "Most Of The Time") and you can get it from them,,
I did check their website for it
but did not find a windows 7 driver (Its possible I might have missed it Please feel free to check),, so your best best is the windows Updates Or Contacting Them..
Here is there contact Info
