I have a GE Profile Dryer model number: DPXR473EW0WW. It is an older dryer and it has progressively taken longer to dry clothes. The blower still seems to work well and the heater core is still getting power. While drying it still gets hot enough to turn red as can be viewed through the shield. I just want to verify that it is a problem with the heater core wearing out before I drop $130 (which is the cheapest I can find the assembly) to replace it. Thanks in advance. Neal
You may want to remove the back of the dryer to see if all of the element is glowing. Sometimes the element opens and then welds itself to the metal case, which would cause a partial, but not total loss of heat (slower drying time). If that is the case, part of the element will be glowing, and part of it will not.
Hi,
If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.
if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....
If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.
check out this electric no heat tip...
