On then off

Hi. I have a Nintendo DS (not lite) and it was dropped and then a part of the screen became black. I got a new screen and put it in. Now, when I tun on my DS the green light comes on for two whole seconds, the screen flickers and it goes off again. I am going on vacation tomorrow and need help. I don't know if I'm putting the screen in wrong or if it's something else. Please help. I'm desperate

Re: On then off

Hi -- Perhaps this will help -- something I saw on another forum -- about how the ribbons go back in place... (not my post, but a copy of someone else's]... Good luck ?- I've just tried repairing my son's ds (upper screen was blank) -- now it won't power on... I hope you have better luck than I did! alliemack Quote: I hope I have the right forum. I bought a broken Nintendo DS (not Lite). Actually I bought 2. One had a broken hinge and the other a broken top LCD screen. Both units powered up and worked fine. I took the good LCD out of the one with the broken hinge and put it into the other one to have one perfect DS. Now I have 2 DS's that won't power up. This makes no sense. It was an easy fix. Now they just flash and shut right off. Does anyone out there know what might be wrong? I contacted Nintendo but of course they want me to send it in with $75 plus shipping one way. They will not give advice, they just want your money. I hope someone out there has some experience with these. Thank you. ***This is an update because I have since fixed the DS. Someone from another forum had the same problem. I'm posting this in case anyone else out there is stuck with the same problem. When you take apart the unit to repair the top screen you'll notice some ribbon cables. The wide ribbon cables go into the clip only one way so there's no problem with them. There is a really small ribbon cable hidden under the wide one. When you put it back together, you have to push the cable in over top of the clip as opposed to underneath which you would normally think of doing. There is a small groove on top of the clip that the cable fits into perfectly. If you put it in underneath, you won't make a connection and the unit will immediately turn off after you turn it on. It's such an easy mistake to make. Of course I made it on two of them. I didn't pay close enough attention to how I took it apart. Hopefully this helps someone else out there that is going nuts over the same problem.

Re: On then off

You could have damaged the motherboard, or perhaps there is too much power needed for the lcd. you may have placed it in wrong. connie

I was playing on Action Replay on my Ds lite using Pokemon Platinum with 1 cheat (arceus cheat) when the top screen went black. I deleted the cheat and the top screen became just visible but bottom screen...

Perhaps not, Did the games/System get dusty?
Blow in the slots to clean them.
Also, Have you tried erasing Arceus yet? That may also be causing a problem.

DS Screen

If the nintendo has dropped most probably the LCD screen will be broken. If it is broken you can replace it for around € 20.

Here you can find the instructions:

Top Screen of DS Lite broken

Replace upper screen and the Upper front bezel.
Or replace the upper screen and the complete DS Lite Housing. You can find them on the well known auction sites. Please be aware that you must know what your are doing. If in doubt, send it to Nintendo or a local Nintendo repair service
