Question about Sony MHC-GX450 CD Shelf System

Clicking "Skips" during playback (SONY MHC-GX450)

Hi,

This problem just started occurring today after a few years of owning this stereo system.

Basically the system would randomly have these "clicking" sounds that seem to briefly skip the music, then music resumes; at some points it occurs multiple times consecutively, other times it does it once every song.

And it does not seem like it's only confined to CD playback, same thing happens with radio...

The click sound sounds EXACTLY like the on-off button sound too. Please help!

Is the LED on the front of the subwoofer unit glowing?
If not then check that (a) the plugs are correctly inserted in the two sockets on the back of the the mhc-gx450, and (b) check that the subwoofer is activated on the mhc-gx450 unit.

Ok i just got the sub from a sony sswg450 i want to know is there some way to hook it up to my Pioneer home Receiver

Did you get a manual with it? According to the Sony site this speaker originates in Sony MHC-GX450.

"This product bundle includes the following models:
HCD-GX450 - STEREO MINI SYSTEM
RM-SC3 - REMOTE CONTROL for Shelf Mini Systems
SSRG444 - FRONT SPEAKER FOR MHCGX450
SS-WG450 - SUBWOOFER FOR MHCGX450"

Find the manual here and learn a bit about your seprated sub...

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-documents.pl?mdl=MHCGX450

See page 7.

As can be seen, the subwoofer has two connections to the mothership, very unlike the standard speaker level (+/-) speaker wire or RCA-Line-Level subwoofer out that 'normal passive or active subwoofers use, respectively.

Not knowing which of those your unspecified Pioneer receiver supports, it is impossible to say. Does your Pioneer have that control jack?

Mini-systems are generally not designed to be pieced out and used with grown-up gear. The absence of standardized connections is the clue.

My stereo won't even read the CD-player cleaner. Where is the laser lens, so I can clean it?

You need to unscrew the Sony MHC-GX450 CD Shelf System where the player is located and pull the whole DVD/Cd assembly.I suggest you have it done by professional technician since the laser lens is very sensitive. If its not reading the CD cleaner it only means that the laser is worn out and needs to be replaced.

How can I get the cd changer to stop changing non stop?

Something is out of timing. When powered up, the unit trys to get to a known state and will continue until it reaches that state. If the timing of the gears has been changed, this may not occur.

I'll try to see if I can create a set of instructions to re-time this.
