Dust Cover will not come off a Mead EXT Astro Telescope

How do I remove this safely without breaking anything?  I don't know how it got stuck.

It is probably sticking because Meade use some adhesive backed pads to make the cover fit tightly. Mine jammed initially too.The tacky glue from these will stick the cover in place. Careful teasing of the cover with a broad blade screwdriver should persuade it loose, it is flexible plastic but go carefully.
After it is off peel off the pads and clean off the excess glue with WD40. Degrease the area and either replace the pads or add some of your own (DIY shops sell adhesive pads)

Just put several small pieces of stick on velcro inside the edge of the cover to tighten up the fit.

Cannnot see anything through the telescope

I know this may sound really stupid but with old Mead reflector I kept forgetting to take the cap off the tube. Seeing that it sets down inside a bit it's easy to miss.

Can't see out of eye piece

This is a reflector style telescope. The MIRROR is in the base! Light enters the front near the focuser and goes down the tube and bounces off the mirror and back to the front and through the eyepiece. The EYEPIECE end is pointed up.

Your scope TUBE should look like the reflector telescope on this web page:

http://www.amazon.com/Edu-Science-Astro-Nova-102-Telescope/dp/B001NLOQN2

Wish you had NOT bought this telescope. For about the same price you could have bought this:
http://www.telescope.com/control/product/~category_id=classicdobs/~pcategory=dobsonians/~product_id=08942

The scope above has a 6 inch mirror which is almost twice the size of the scope you bought.

Try removing the dust cap at the front where the scope is.
