SOURCE: toshiba satellite fn key display problem

Just download this :) It will fix your problem. If it doesn't work, just search for Toshiba Value Added Package Vista/XP (that depends on what Operative System you've got) and download for your Operative System.

Wireless not enabling

Silly question, but are you folding the "Fn" key (bottom left of keyboard) down at the same time as you are pressing the "F12" key?

My function keys doesn't work in my laptop toshiba satellite c660-a047

The function key, labeled "Fn" and located in the lower-left corner of your keyboard, is a useful feature. By pressing "Fn" along with one of the numbered function keys at the top of the keyboard (F1 through F12), you can adjust your screen brightness, enable and disable your touchpad or wireless modem, lock your computer and complete a variety of other tasks. These keys will not work if the "Fn" key is not pressed along with them. While the "Fn" key itself does not turn on and off, there are settings that can make it behave differently, or seem to be disabled.

Click "Start," then "All programs" or "Programs," then "Toshiba." Select "Utilities," then "Accessibility." Place a checkmark in the box to make sure the "Fn" key will work whether you press it simultaneously with the F1 through F12 keys or immediately before pressing those keys. Customize the other options on the screen, then click "OK." Test your "Fn" key. One of the easiest ways to do this is by pressing "Fn" and "Esc" at the same time. This toggles the sound on your computer on and off, and will show a speaker icon on your screen if it works. Press "Fn" and "Num lock" at the same time if the "Fn" key still does not work. Use the "F11" key if your laptop has no "Num Lock" key. Test the "Fn" key again, using the same method as in Step 4. Locate a licensed repair technician if the key still is not working. A hardware issue may be at fault. Hope this helps.

IBM T30 wireless and graphis driver

it might be that your wireless is not activated or disabled. look for a key on your keyboard which has a wireless picture on it,then press that key with the Fn (function) key at the same time when you're on the desktop. or if it's still doesn't work, the network you try to connect is not available
for the video driver, you can download it here

I have spilled water on my laptot and the keyboard doesn't work anymore. I have connected an external keyboard now however, I cant switch on the wireless capability. Does anyone know a way to do t

Hello,

There may be a switch on the side of the laptop that turns the wireless on and off. Also try pressing and holding the fn key and pressing and releasing f1 or f2. The water spill may have killed the wireless card also. If you still can't get it working, then purchase an inexpensive usb wireless adapter. This will plug into an available usb port and will give you wireles capabilities. You will need to replace the keyboard as well as it was obviously damaged by the spill. Check on ebay, or contact the manufacturer for a replacement.

Hope this helps!

Lenove ku-0989 fn key

  1. Numerous folks indicate that Windows doesn't register the Fn key as a keypress but using a tool that gives the ASCII value of a keypress I see the Fn key returning FF (perhaps FF in this case means 'not registered'). I also see that keys like Ctrl register with one ASCII code when pressed alone and another when pressed in combo with another key. Fn will only register when pressed alone, so Windows definitely isn't seeing the combo. This took a solution like AutoHotKey off the table.

  2. I ran KeyTweak (which shows you the hardware scan codes of a keypress and the Fn key registerd as 57443). Using this program I remapped Fn to the Ctrl key; this worked perfectly. However, I suspect that because of the issue in #1, the combo of, for example, Fn + C did not execute a copy.

It will not connect to wireless, it keeps saying turn on wireless communication switch yet there is no switch on the computer. I have been without a computer for almost a week, please help!

@kblossom1280

There's two switch to turn the wireless capability of this laptop:

1. You need to turn ON the physical wireless switch located at the top of the keyboard (see image below)

ray_tosh_8.png
2 If that doesn't turn the Wireless ON, you need to press the Fn+F8 key (the Fn key is located on the left side of the space bar).

Good luck.

If the keyboard doesn't have a Fn key often the Scroll Lock key is used, try Scr Lk + Down arrow to dim the display.
The manual indicates and Fn Key to the right of the Left Alt Key but that doesn't mean you have that keyboard eitther
