Question about Sony (XL-2400) Projector Lamp for KDF-E42A10, KDF-E50A10

3 Answers

I have a Sony KDF-E50A10 LCD Projection TV, my TV going on and off every 30 to 40 second, I can hear the fan still running....green led flasing in front of the tv while the picture and sound goes off, this is the Power/Stand by led. I followed instruction from Sony.com and was advised to unplug for 30 second and try again. This did not resolved my issue! If the lamp going on and off for 30 seconds, that telling me the problem is not the lamp of course! Is there any type of reset?

TV is about 2 half years old...So you recommend replacing the lamp even though on the front of the TV doesn't have a red led telling us to replace the lamp?

I have the same problem - try replacing the ballast! Not the DLP Lamp, we have replaced ours already! The repairman has now ordered a ballast. In the meantime, we have delegated the Sony to a great place in the basement and purchased a 46" Sharp Aquos LCD - heck, what a difference and guess what - much more "user friendly". Sony is a bad word in our house!

When Lamp got weak TV got that symptom.
Lamp light will glow when Lamp got dead but now its weak.
Buy Sony original Lamp and replace it. By the way, how old is this TV?

Make sure the safety door is in place and properly locked. We didn't have ours in correctly and kept getting the 3 blinking lights. After we resecured it - it worked.

Hi,
Green picture is caused by the light engine (the projection part of tv) failing and has to be replaced. Sony has extended the warranty on some models so you might be in lick. Contact them with model and serial number they can help setup repair if you qualify. If it is not covered it can cost between $1000-2000 to fix, which is way too much.
