Question about Westinghouse L1975NW Monitor
The monitor was previously working. However, this morning the computer booted up normally, but the screen was black. The only sign that the screen is working is that the little green light next to the power button is blinking. The power switch on the monitor doesn't turn the monitor on or off. If I disconnect the cable from the screen I do not see "No Signal" on the screen.
It sounds like you have a monitor with a common problem, this series of Westinghouse monitors are known to have this issue. After a few years some LCD monitors will blow a power supply. The problem is caused by parts called capacitors overheating in the confined space of he monitor. When the capacitors blow out they also damage the driver MOSFETs. If you are good at electronics repair/soldering you can usually fix he problem. Check out a few pictures on my web site www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm You can take the back cover off your monitor and look for the bad parts, replace any that look like the pictures and your monitor should work fine. The capacitors do need to be installed with the correct + and - connections, note the stripe on the old one and insert the new one the same way. I am putting together a step by step repair guide for this series of LCD monitors, it should be up by 07/11, check my web site for the guide. Repair parts kits are also available for $16.95 If you don't want to try the repair yourself we offer a repair service for $35 plus shipping. If you are not going to repair it we will buy it from you for parts, we pay $30 for dead/as-is units.
I hope this helps, if so please rate my solution.
