Linux is an open-source operating system built on the Unix system that was introduced in the 1990s. It's gradually become widely accepted as an alternative to both Windows and Macintosh because of its reliability and the open-source ethos that provides the software for free. Because the Linux operating system is constantly changing, it can quickly adapt to handle new technology, such as installing a USB webcam.

Plug in your USB webcam. Boot up your Linux system and log in. Fire up a program that uses the camera, such as Skype. If the webcam is fairly recent, there is a good chance that it will work with your Linux distribution. If not, keep reading. Open a terminal window and type the command "dmesg ' more" (without the quotes). This command allows you to thumb through your boot-up messages. Check for any messages that relate to the camera. If you do see a reference, go to your "/lib/modules/usb" subfolder to see if there is a module there that exists for it. Depending on your Linux distribution, your "/usb" subfolder may be in a different location beneath "/lib/modules." You will have to recompile your kernel with support for the module, install the new kernel and then reboot the system to try to connect to the USB camera. Open a terminal window and fire up the "lusb" program. If you are running a graphical environment like Gnome or KDE, you can use the v412-tool to check for a list of USB devices attached to your system. Determine which USB device listed is your camera; there are no hard and fast rules, so guesswork prevails. In the listing for your camera is an eight-digit number with a colon in the middle. This number is the manufacturer's product ID, which you can then use to scour the Internet for a Linux driver. Hope this helps.

Sync Iphone with a Linux OS?

Yes it's possible.
However here's the main issue at hand. Apple refuses to make a linux compatible iTunes for iphone users that just don't wanna conform to Windows or Mac.
So here's the solution to the problem. Forget about WINE, forget about trying to instal the mac version or the windows version of iTunes. It's not gonna happen. And if it can. Your a god...
But if your like me and really don't wanna fight your system just to get a phone hooked up and music put on it. Download 'GTKPod' it's an itunes like emulator that's build specifically for linux.
Syncing music and stuff to your iphone is SIMPLE with that program.
If you need further help with it. Don't hesitate to email me here, and I'll hel you with whatever support you need.

Hello, I formatted the M3000 with Ubuntu Linux, and... i'm stupid

Take your Sanyo back to Linux box, hook up the USB cable, and then mount it.

Copy the files that you want to keep on to the $HOME directory on Linux.

Next, from a terminal, run
sudo fdisk -l

to display all the mounted filesystems on the computer.

It might be /dev/sdb1, or /dev/sdc1 You should be able to pick out the M3000 as its hard disk size is 6.0 GB. Let's assume that the USB drive is on /dev/sdb1

Re-run the fdisk command.

sudo fdisk /dev/sdb

(press m to get the help menu).

Recommend that you choose d to delete a partition,
then n to create a new partition
when asked about the code for the new partition, use b -- this corresponds to Windows 95 FAT32 file system.

Don't forget w to write the new partition definition out to the USB drive.
Lastly q to quit fdisk.

Once you exit fdisk, remount the M3000 and make sure that you copy your files back on to it.

All Linux and Windows systems should be able to recognize your drive now.

I have comcast high speed internet but no computer can i hook the ps3 up and still get on the internet on it.

Yes, the PS3 had an Integrated web browser so internet access is possible with it, you can use a usb mouse and usb keyboard as well...Its not as easily navigated as a PC but it will do most things online. Another option you have is to install Linux on the ps3 by creating a 10g partition, when you do this you loose all saved game data on your system but you can do a system backup prior to installing linux. all you need is an external usb drive to back up your system. Once linux is installed you have a fully functional PC on your ps3...Neet hu...Instructional videos can be found on YouTube
