Would be nice to know error code on the blue screen. That is pointing on the problem-and solution.Anyway, you can try system restore. On boot, computer shows start-up options, and among them is "System Restore".Hit that button and try to restore OS in earlier point of time.Or try Safe mode.Run-msconfig-enter-system restore. To be honest, from my bad experience, blue screen on boot is almost always connected to dying hard drive. Good luck, and keep us posted.
when yit says the "we apologize screen" try doin the "controle-alt-deleat" command. if that doesnt work, try pressing the escape key. if that Still doesnt work, try pressing the end key. my guess is that you were either looking at something you souldnt have been, or you clicked on an ad. Eitherway, it sounds like you got a nasty virus. if nothing else works........ reformat.
the cause of blue screen is a memory failure or a corrupted software, try to replace your memmory card then observe if it gives you a blue screen, (memmory card is located inside your laptop you have to open the bottom case) and if it still gives you blue screen i'm afraid you have to format your laptop.
You will probably have to reinstall windows 2000. The problem is a corrupted file. Before you reinstall try rebooting pressing f8 at starting screen and then scroll to boot with last known good configuration. If this doesnt work then reinstall w2k with service pack 4 or upgrade to win xp service pack 3
