On the front of the seat, under the harness adjuster, there is a handle to pull to recline the seat. Pull it, while pushing back on the top of the seat to fully recline it.
There is a metal bar going across the base. Facing the front of the car seat, there is a tab that says "press" on the right hand side, under the bar. Press the tab, while pushing the bar through from the left side until you can pull it completely out.
Pull on the recline handle again and lift the seat off of the base.

Try pressing down very hard on the seat while trying the release. If that does not work, call the manufacturer. Note: if this does release, check the seat belt for damage before using again. Also check that the belt path used to install the base is/was correct. -- Marc
Hi It sounds as though you have an original Creatis carseat not the CreatisFix. The original Creatis carseat is not compatible with the CreatisFix base and is fitted into the car using the 3 point seatbelt only. We would recommend you return to the shop where you purchased the item to discuss this issue further with them.
The Easy Fix Base is used for cars which have isofix points in their car. The Easy Base fits into your car using the seatbelt.
Both of these bases can be used ONLY for the CabrioFix Carseat and cannot be used for the next stage seat (Group 1).
I did a search and came up with this site http://www.healthchecksystems.com/product/?product_id=9530. it doesn't say specifically if you can use it with our without a base. But it does have a video demo and larger pictures. It looks like on the side of the seat there is a part that is black where there is no cover, that is where the seat belt should pass. Any of my infant car seats that can be used without the base have been just like this. Hope this helps!
If you have a Cabrio Fix carseat, underneath the carseat should be two silver metal bars that slot into the base, if these are not on the carseat then you have the Cabrio model which is not compatible with the base.
The straps should have a release buckle, just pull it really hard while the carseat is removed. Its a lot easier if you put all your weight on the base like kneeling down on it while pushing the release buckle toward the crease of the seat and alternating weight on the base. Good Luck, and remember, you can always cut and replace the belt if necessary!!:)
We have two of these for our vehicles, Its pretty simple once you do it. THere is one metal bar (rod) underneath the base. You need to bend the plastic tab to the side in order to slide the rod out of the base. Once the rod is removed the base comes free. After removing the 5 point harness straps (and cleaning all the crumbs accumulated from underneath), you're ready to go.
When set in pace in the car, just the seatbelt hold the child in place.
