Question about Garden

McCulloch Chain Saw model # 600016H

I need to know, how to check the condensor, to see if it is good or not.

I have a multimeter with a capacitor tester, need to know the what the output/reading of the capacitor.

Every time I start the chainsaw, I have to add some fuel, directlory to the carburator to start the saw. It will run until the tank is dry, therefore I know the fuel pump works, but am unsure of an alternative starting method.

It is not running at this time, I think because of an electrical issue.

Please email me the answers at abachand@shaw.ca

Thank you,

Albert

What oil does it take

You provide no model number so my answer is limited. Use "Bar and Chain" oil available at most home centers and hardware stores.

You can likely find an OM for your saw here: If the entire model does not work try just the numbers then choose from the list provided.

Where can I get a free online service manuel for this chain saw Model CS38EM. The chain got jammed and I've stripped it but now problem to reassembled it in original order.

I thought it was electric. Now I think it is a MTD McCulloch. A McCulloch example of model number "21-600038-76" follows (may not be your saw):
http://www.ordertree.com/modelinfo/MCC/21-600038-76-Mac-3816-IPL-211318-01/139.21-600038-76-Mac-3816-IPL-211318-01.1.59.1.html

A less detailed IPL that includes other 600038 models follows: Page 1 is illustrated, does it look like your saw?
McCulloch MTD
Chainsaws 32cc-35cc-38cc Anti-Vibe

This explains construction of an IPL number, MTD and Husqvarna models often deviate from the explanation.

All McCulloch IPL may be found here:

Download and open the link below for bar installation:

See page 16.

No spark on a I-72 mcCulloch chain saw.

Since this saw is at least 40 years old, you either have a bad coil or bad points and condensor. I would look at the points and see if they can be salvaged but more than likely they will be burned and pitted beyond salvage. Replace them if you can find them. If you can not find them locally contact southern supply company at 205-833-2525 or email them at southern.supply@mindspring.com and I feel sure Jason or someone there can help you.

They have more obsolete parts for McCulloch products than anyone I know.

Need to replace gas line inside mcculloch chain

You need to disassemble the case to get to the fuel tank. Pull out the plug fitting and replace the internals with new factory grade parts.

Need to know spacing requirments for magneto on mcculloch model # 600016h. is it possible to test coil and how would you do so?

Spacing is probably .010. You can test it by getting a flashlight battery and light. Connect the base of the light to the spark plug cable. Connect the ground wire of the coil to the bottom of the battery, and hold the other end of the battery on the light. If the light lights, the coil is good. If not, the coil is bad.

Do not use anything over a 1.5 volt flashlight bulb and battery. The bulb does not have to glow, just light, to prove the coil.
