Broken amplifier for Sharper Image DECO ZipConnect stereo

We have a Sharper Image Designed DECO ZipConnect stereo system with AM/FM/CD Stereo plus ZipConnect for iPod & MP3 Players ZE401. We've narrowed down the problem with the amplifier portion of this shelf system. Since Sharper Image has gone out of business, we cannot find anyone to repair this component. We like the system and think it will be an easy fix...any ideas on where we can get this repaired?

SOURCE: Sharper Image Cd shelf system model # SO227

The one I troubleshot had a bad 4700 uF 25v capacitor next to the dc connector on the main pc board. this dc connector cable runs from the rear cover of unit(the rectifier board). When I power up the unit, dead,no standby lite no power.I removed all connections to cd board and just left the mmain board and display board connected.clock and standby came on,but after about two minutes the 4700uf 25v power cap started to smoke (and dmm read 12v and falling across cap).hurray that was my big clue! Replaced cap with a gang of 5 1000uf 35v nichicon electrolytes in a parallel L package formation to fit the realestate of old cap and allow cover closure.happy tunes.Unfortunatly made by cheapos who spec counterfiet electrolyte formulated caps.Watch out for "S.I." brand electrolytics.Check temp of rest of caps while running unit as this beast is chock full of them.

SOURCE: Problem with the Sharper Image

You need to simply replace the 'belt' in the gear drive of the door. Go to a shop where they fix CD's. Just went today and he found one in seconds...no charge, if you can believe it! Measure the belt by strectching end to end and multiply by two.......or take the old one with you. Got one TODAY, as a matter of fact and now just need to have all 4 discs play. :)

I need to know what type antenna it needs

What you need can be as simple as a "dipole antenna", or as complex as an FM antenna on your roof. A dipole antenna looks rather like the letter T, with the top part of the T about 3' wide, and the base part long enough to reach your set. Make it out of lampcord, extension cord, etc. The connection looks like this:
'-------------------------------------------'
'----------------' '-------------------------'
' '

the vertical bars are connections on the ends of the "T", and the base connects so it all makes a loop. The size isn't really critical.

You can buy one for under $10

Since you have 2 receivers, you can either use the Sony STR-AV570X or the TA-AX380. You will need 3 Stereo RCA Cables to connect your CD Player, Tuner, and Tape Player. The speakers connect to the receiver you choose using the speaker input terminals.
