If there is an error code with an E followed by a number or "88" displays/flashes it would be an internal issue in the base unit. The unit would need repair.
Uniden does offer a limited 1 year warranty off the proof of purchase. The proof of purchase is required for warranty service. Uniden phones that are purchased in the US or Canada are only made for use in the US or Canada. Using this phone in other countries will void the warranty and also may damage the unit due to the differences in electrical standards. Also the unit may not work as specified.
From another fixya post: 1. Make sure to charge the handset battery pack at least 12 hours. 2. Using the soft keys on the base located below the base screen, press MENU. 3. Use the up or down arrow keys to select DISPLAY BASE ID. 4. Press OK. The base screen will display the 15-digit Base ID code for about 30 seconds, then the unit returns to the idle screen. Write down the Base ID code on a piece of paper. 5. At the cordless handset, use the soft key to select NEW. 6. Enter the 15-digit Base ID code using the number keypad. 7. Use the soft key to select OK. The screen displays PLEASE WAIT!. 8. After about 45 seconds, the screen displays FOUND BASE. If the handset displays BASE BUSY TRY LATER, the base is in use.
Hi , The phones which keep saying Register mean that they have lost the coding for the Base. To re-code them all you do is
press the menu button,
Press down Button 3 times until Setting comes on the screen,
Press the Button Phone/Ok,
The Display should display HANDSET SETTING,
Press the Button Phone/Ok ,
Then Press the Down button about 4 times until Register Comes on the screen,
Press the Button Phone/Ok,
Enter Base pin ( 0000 )
The Display will show REGISTER IN PROGRESS,
then immediatly press the Handset Locator Button on the Base and hold it in until you hear a tone.
Thats it , the screen should display Register Done.
Thuis was hard to find but it worked for my ra2364hh's
note the phone stopped working in "tone dial" after 2 months and now functions with "pulse dial" only.....
Registration The handset and base will be pre-registered with a digital security code identification, which is stored in the phone’s memory, so that your phone will be ready to work right out of the box. However, your phone also has a procedure to allow you to re-register in case the link is lost accidentally. Enter menu, press the key - Select REGISTER and confirm PIN CODE will be displayed, enter the PIN code (the default value is 0000) and confirm. SEARCHING will be displayed while your handset is in registration mode Press and hold the Page key for 3 seconds on the base until the “In use” LED is ON, putting the base in registration mode SUCCESS will be displayed. This means the handset has located the base, and will get a handset number from the base that displays after the handset name for internal calling. If the handset does not locate the base, FAILED will be displayed and it will return to the non-located display mode that displays BS SEARCH with the antenna icon flash. Try again and check that you are not in an environment with interference. Note: Your base can register up to four handsets. If you have more than one handset, repeat the above steps to register each new handset.
I called Uniden about the same problem. They say it is a code that means it is defective base unit. I had purchased it within one year and they will gladly send me a new one. I don't know if they will offer anything beyond the one year mark.
They say it was a spike in the power lines that causes this error.
