Our Kenmore dishwasher is so loud we can barely hear ourselves speak. Do you have any suggestions?

T turned out to be the fan on the motor/pump assembly came loose and made a whirring sound. The fix involved replacing the entire pump/motor assembly as it was a "unitized" assembly.

Is this a high pitch squeek or noise. If so its because it isnt getting used enough. Dish washers need to be used 1-2 times a week. If noise starts when you first start the cycle and then goes away its because of the seals. a little lemon juice helps keep them lubed. I think there are products that help with this. I hope it wasnt more serious than this.

Hi

It could be because of the following :

Water-inlet valve An aging water-inlet valve can sometimes fail slowly, rather than all at once. It can shudder on and off rapidly, causing the incoming water lines to shake, rumble, and rattle--sometimes violently. If yours is doing this, replace the inlet valve.

Motor If it's the motor that's noisy, either of these may be the "culprit:"

  • As motor bearings wear out, they can become quite loud when the motor runs. They wear out quickly if they frequently get wet, because the water washes away the motor bearing grease. Bearings can get wet if the spin seal is defective. Then there will also be water leaking onto the floor beneath the dishwasher. Replace the seal if it leaks (read about the main tub seal in the "It leaks" section, later).

  • If, from beneath the dishwasher, you can see a round, plastic disc that's mounted to the top of the motor (a "slinger"), it may have broken free of the motor shaft. If so, it could be rattling around the shaft while the motor is running. If that's the problem, you need to replace the motor.

    Heater fan

If the heater fan bearings are rusted or worn, they may squeal, or scrape loudly during the drying cycle. If this is the problem, replace the fan motor. Alternatively, the fan blade may be loose. If so, you need to replace it.

    Pump

Small fruit pits, toothpicks, and fragments of glass sometimes get stuck in the pump. When this happens, open the pump and remove the debris. The pump is usually mounted directly to the motor, then attached to the bottom of the dishwasher.

To get to the pump, you usually need to remove the lower rack, the spray arms, and the spray arm support from the inside of your dishwasher. A dishwasher pump isn't obvious. Look for an impeller--a round, plastic fan blade-type device that spins around and pushes the water toward the drain. When you can see the drain impeller, you should be able to see the clogging debris.

    Thanks

Thank you, thank you!!! A repair service that came to fix my 4 year old Kenmore...

The blinking "clean light" is a common problem with some of the Kenmore and Whirlpool models dishwashers. The problem is usually attributed to water supply temperatures being too low when filling. Apparently, there are some issues with the temperature sensing circuits in some dishwashers that causes an error code to be generated if a certain water temperature is not achieved in a specified time interval (this time may differ between models). There is a reset sequence that you can try to clear the fault. Push the NORMAL WASH then HEATED DRY buttons in that sequence two to three times. The unit will enter diagnostics mode, but can be stopped by pressing the CANCEL button. This will clear any existing faults and should return the dishwasher to normal operation.

To keep the fault from returning, it is recommended that you run your hot water faucet in the kitchen until it runs hot BEFORE you start the dishwasher. This will heat the water in the supply line for the dishwasher (most dishwashers are fed from the kitchen sink supply line). The theory is that if you fill the dishwasher with hot water from the start of the wash cycle instead of the cool water that is normally in the lines (especially if you have a hot water tank located far away from the kitchen), this should satisfy the requirements of the temperature sensing circuits. If the fault reappears, there should be a tech sheet located inside the lower panel under the door that explains what the fault is. The flashing light will be a series of flashes, followed by a pause. If you indeed have a component problem, it will depend on the number of flashing lights in the sequence. Refer to the tech sheet to determine WHAT component is affected and how to troubleshoot.

Door won't lock on kenmore ultra wash quiet guard 3

I would say it's worth getting a Professional to repair the door. It saves a lot of time and effort in the long run...and money! We had the same problem and no way could we have fixed it ourselves.

Everything works but no water is going into the dishwasher

Check your water inlet solenoid wires. The vavle could also be bad. You should hear a loud click just before the water goes in.

Sears kenmore dishwasher model 665-13752 k601/ runs noisey

I'm afraid I just had a repair man in for the same problem. We just bought ours in July, 2008, and there is a bad berring in the motor. We have to replace the motor assembly ($244). Told that it is just the luck of the draw if the motor is faulty or not; no quality in products anymore. We were also warned against using it til it's fixed as it could overheat and melt things, flood water all over the floor, etc.

Very Loud Motor

changing the motor will fix the problem.they are really easy to change.
the motor lies under the main filter.Just un clip it and check for broken glass.
The first thing I do when I hear a noisey motor is change it.(new or second hand?
Now its two parts to the motor, you want to change the part that pumps the water around and also reverse to drain.
Its located under the spray arm.

Noise, Noise, NOISE

Barring an actual cat being inside the dishwasher, I would surmise that the motor bearings are starved for lubricant, which is something that is not normally done. Sounds like its time for a new dishwasher
