Question about Emerson Smartset Clock Radio

Emerson Smartset CK1862 does not auto set the time

I have tried unplugging it, replugging it, using it with and without the battery and replacing the battery, all to no avail. It always goes to 1/1/05 12:00 when plugging it back in. They want me to return it and send them $9.00 )plus shipping) to fix or replace it (half what I paid for it...I could just go get get another one...but what would I use in the mea time while they are "repairing" it?)

In this case, it is probably better to buy a new Clock/Radio. You should also try to figure out what caused the problem with the broken Clock/Radio. This will help you prevent it from happening to the new Clock/Radio. You probably need a surge protector. The surge protectors will help prevent the Clock/Radio for being damaged by transient voltage surges that happen during storms and power outages. Sorry this answer is so late in coming to you. Thank you for using FixYa and have a nice day.

Hello
You haven't specified nothing about your Emerson Smartset Clock Radio. Nothing is there about its model number. Yet I posts this solution before you assuming that yours' is a CKS3528 Emerson Clock radio.

There is a long life lithium battery installed in this clock radio when you buy it.

This battery can maintain the time and alarm settings for 3 to 5 years, or even

longer, so there is no need to pay for a new 9-volt battery every 6 months, as
is recommended in other clock radios with normal battery back up.
But if this lithium battery has gone down [ in terms of voltage]; the display 'L" will be there. It means that, it is time to replace this backup battery. It will be of disc type, usually used as bios setting storage, used in computers. OK.

I have an Emerson Smartset Clock Radio (CKS1862) and it doesn't

This Clock/Radio has had a problem with component failure. Since Emerson doe not support out of warranty repairs, you will not be able to get it repaired. Due to the low production cost of these short production run products, parts and service information are usually available to the manufacturer and service centers only. This mean that there is no parts and service information for independent repair shops. Even if you could get it repaired it would cost more than purchasing a new Clock/Radio. Thank you for using FixYa and have a nice day.

After 2 years Smartset presents problems

You must try to reset the microprocessor in the Clock/Radio. To do this you must unplug the Clock/Radio from the A/C power source. Then remove the Internal battery(CR2430). Let the Clock/Radio set without a power source for about 3 hours. This will discharge the microprocessor and reset it. After you have discharged the microprocessor, you can reinstall the internal battery. Connect the Clock/Radio to the A/C power source. The Clock/Radio's Functions should have returned to normal function. If the Clock/Radio did not return to normal function, you must replace the internal battery and again let the microprocessor discharge. After the microprocessor has discharged, put in the new internal battery and reconnect the Clock/Radio to the A/C power source. The Clock/Radio should have returned to normal function. If you are still having problem with the functions of the Clock/Radio, You will have to call Emerson Customer Support. The telephone number for the Emerson customer support is 1-800-909-1240. you can call them between the hours of 8am-4:30pm CT. Give them the make and model number of the Clock/Radio and ask them for assistance. I hope this information help you with your problems with the Clock/Radio. Thank you for using FixYa and have a nice day!

Emerson Smartset Clock Radio

For the Clock/Radios that are having problems with the clock display and settings. You will have to reset the Clock/Radio's microprocessor. To do this you must unplug the Clock/Radio from the wall outlet and remove the internal battery. You must let the Clock/Radio set with no power for at least 1 hour to discharge the microprocessor circuits. The microprocessor should then be able to reset itself. You can then reinsert the battery and plug the Clock/Radio into the a/c wall outlet. The functions should have reset and be working normally. If this does not solve the problem, try putting in a new battery (CR2430). Before putting in the new battery, unplug the clock radio and remove the old battery and let it set again for a few hours this time to try to reset the microprocessor. If this does not solve the problem (This includes the person with the complete Clock/Radio operation failure) you can call the Emerson customer support at this telephone number 1-800-898-9020. Give them the make and model number of the Clock/Radio. Tell them the problems you are having with the operation of the Clock/Radio and ask them for assistance. I hope this information helps you solve the problems your are having with your Clock/ Radios.
