All Dyson's have a thermal breaker built in them,,witch means if there is a blockage it will stop working to protect the motor it will reset itself if you leave it for 30 minutes to cool down,,.

The electrolux twin bagless shuts off right after putting on... is there a sensor that needs to be replaced, the cannister is empty and doesnt need to be emptied..

Good chance it is overheating. Make sure you clean the pre-filter (the metal tube inside the dirt collector) and pull out any other obstructions in there. More likely, though, you must clean the black square filter on the outside of the dust collector. This may help:

Useful Tips for Sebo's X1 Bagged upright vacuum.

Own a Sebo Automatic X1 Bagged upright or perhaps a Windsor-Sensor model? Here are a few tips to get more out of your machine.
When it comes to filter replacement, the standard cone/tube shaped filter can actually be cleaned by the Sebo if only just for a short moment just to get rid of any attached dirt the filter has accumulated. By removing the filter tube, the auto stop clip comes down, but by lifting your finger with this clip upwards and your other hand holding the bin door, the door can actually be locked back into position as it would normally. Then using the standard upholstery t shaped tool, clean the tube leaving it free of any dust and dirt contained in the tube. Once the tube has been cleaned you can take out the bin door and install the filter back in. Sadly the foam motor filter on the top hood cannot be cleaned or washed and has to be replaced.
If the filter tube however is completely stained and you dont have a free spare one to fit, the filter can actually be removed by removing the tie clips on the top and bottom of the holder. Wash the filter and dry in a tumble dryer - EBay in the UK sometimes sell filter squares which can be tied and locked to the cylindrical tube. Once the filter is dry you can then tie it up to the grid again and if the ties get lost, small computer wire ties are a suitable replacement.
Another feature of the Sebo X which has only just come to light recently with Sebo's user videos is use of the dry cleaning powder. Although Sebo don't actually tell you, by manually rubbing the powder into your carpet with just your fingers rather than raking it in on the top surface you'll get more out the first application of rubbing the powder in and letting it get a better chance of removing actual heavy stains. If you don't want to rub that powder in manually, remove the top hose by unlocking it where it meets the bag dirt channel on the left hand side of the machine at the top. (right hand obviously if you are facing the Sebo) then the Sebo X can be used as a rolling  brush to rub the powder in. After the 30 minutes minimum waiting time, lock the hose back into the X and vacuum up as normal.
This facility of removing the hose/thus cutting the suction is also very useful to rub in bicarbonate of soda into your carpets if you own pets. Bicarbonate of soda is an ideal natural odourizer which will maintain clean areas. Sebo's DuoP dry powder is ideal to do this as well for general stain protection if you like to keep your carpets clean.
The paper bags can also last a lot longer if the dirt your Sebo has collected remains half way at the top rather than naturally falling to the bottom of the bag.My X1 does this with new carpet fluff. Take the crevice tool and push the tool into the top opening of the bag to push the dirt GENTLY down - this will give you extra longevity on the bag used as well as not having to replace it so often.
There are ways to make your Sebo X1 cost effective!

My electrolux twin clean won't turn on

What you might have done is burned out the cable that supplies the power to the actual working of the machine. This happened to be and I had to end up replacing the internal components which took a lot of time, and money. You are better off trying to get a new one and selling this one online for parts.

I am having a problem with my dyson suction power. I have to continuously clean the bottom filter to get it to **** properly.

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC18. The filter located beneath the clear bin is designed to last the lifetime of the machine, and does not require maintenance - if you have washed this, it will need to be replaced.

If your machine does not seem to be picking up as well as usual, there may be a blockage in the machine - the pre-motor filter may also need a wash. The easiest way to locate and remove any blockages is to follow the steps shown in our online support guide:

In normal use, the pre-motor filter should be washed at least once every 3 months, as shown in the video below. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 12 hours for it to dry completely before replacing it.

For further assistance, please call us free on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).

Best wishes,

If you mean 'it will not turn on, only hiccups and blinks its lights, turning the filter does not (or at least not reliably) turn on the machine, nor does pushing the power button' the cause might be the controller board which sits between the filter holders in front of the machine. On that controller board you'll find a large-ish HQX (or similar) 1uf capacitor which is part of the power supply for the microcontroller (MCU, underneath the board). That capacitor might have lost so much of its capacity that the power supplied to the MCU goes below spec when the motor starts drawing power, leading to a reset.

Replace that capacitor with a similar or bigger version and it might just work again. In my machine I replaced the 1uF HQX X2 (250V~'275V~GMF) with a 2uF SHW 250V~ ripped from an old fence charger and the machine came back to life.

The large capacitor on the right side of the board is the one I replaced.

While you're at it, check the soldering on the controller and sensor boards and reflow anything which looks suspicious, there were a few cold joints on the sensor board on my machine which caused intermittent problems. Also clean the vacuum tube between the pressure sensor (on the left side of the machine) and the air intake (on the right side) and blow out the dust from the nipple which that tube connects to, on the right side of the machine in the air intake duct. You might also find the rubber hoses used to connect the tube to the pressure sensor and the nipple to have grown so much in size that they do not fit tightly. I solved this by pushing some insulation sleeve (ripped from an old wire) over those nipple.s, this makes those connections air-tight again.

Hi, My Electrolux twin clean vacuum has both red and blue lights flashing and I can not get it to turn on to clean the filters. Any suggestions

Try taking the twin filters outside - also take a dustpan brush and tap the filters gently on the bottom, then brush the dust away as it comes out. This can take quite some time, and you will find that LOTS of compacted dust will come out!

No suction

OK - Details details details.....

If the motor turns on and only sucks a little bit or you are experiencing a great loss of suction,.
You have a plug somewhere
Be it a partial block from say a HEPA Filter
or else it is a block in the path of travel where items get sucked up into your vacume.

If you look back to the last time someone used it, was it a fine powder which was cleaned up? then look to the filter (see owners manual for maintenance and or cleaning of the vacume machine) Otherwise is it possible that someone else used it and get it clogged with something larger? Although I'm thinking it is the HEPA filter needing cleaning...

The good news is that if the machine turns on, then you know you have a block somewhere in it, bottom line is you will need to find the clog and you'll be back up and running in no time.

Best regards

I am experiencing some (not complete) loss of sunction when I use the hose

Dirty filter, needs cleaned or replaced.
Partially clogged hose, needs cleared. Detach hose from tank and drop marble down the end of the hose. It should roll through the hose and power head to the floor.
Partial clog in the power head between where hose attaches and the brush. Detach hose from power head and drop marble into opening. If the marble doesn't roll through, there's a clog that needs removed. You may need to disassemble the power head to do so.
Leaky hose, needs replaced.
Clog between back of tank and filter. This is where the hose attaches to the tank. Remove clog.
Clogged filter at bottom of tank, needs cleaned. Remove tank. There's a screen at the bottom of the tank/vacuum. Simply remove/clean anything that may be covering/clogging any of the holes.

Dyson DC14 Complete

Hi Marcia.

You are correct in thinking the machine has A thermal cut out.

I think your problem is caused by one of the following.

1) The filters need cleaning or replacing, Not just the top filter Premotor sponge washable but check the filter directly under waste bin The premotor.

2) Check the 2 inspection ports for partial blockages there is one at the front left hand side & one at the bottom back of machine.

3) Check & clean vortex unit remove clear bin to do this.

4) remove flexi long hose it unclips at the rear bottom of machine & pull out metal wand check them for any blockages.

5) If you have access to an air line when you have postmotor filter out blow in to the oppening under the plastic plate with 2 screws and holes in it this will blow out the fine dust that collects around motor, ( dont do this part indoors you will have black dust every where.

If you need more help contact me.
