SOURCE: NO SURROUND SOUND WHEN PLAYING BLU-RAY

Your amplifier should "downgrade" the signal to 5.1, even if the disc isn't using it. It is most likely a setting on your amp that may need adjusting for "types" of digital to accept on its input. If you can, set your optical input on your amp to "auto". This way it will automatically detect and switch for the proper incoming audio feed

Hi,

Your receiver is the Denon AVR 2105 and not the Sony STR-DG510 5.1 Channels Receiver?

SOURCE: Sony DAV-SC5 not playing 5.1 through the optical input from sky/blu ray

Hi,

The DAV supports Dolby Digital® DTS 5.1 audio. Make sure your blueray movie has 5.1 track and is outputting to the DAV.

What port do you have the HDMI from you BD player into on the 510. If you have it on the DVD port then fiber optic will do you no good, the DVD HDMI only supports digital coax, the Video2 HDMI only accepts fiber optic, and there is an extra fiber optic for the Sat input. If your BD player does not have digital coax out, or if you dont want to buy another cable, just move the HDMI from DVD to Video2 on the 510. I am willing to bet you have the BD player plugged into the DVD HDMI port and the fiber optic cable from you BD player to the Video2 fiber input.

SOURCE: sound not loud Sony DAV-IS10

I think its the fact that the speakers are pretty tiny, even tho BOSE has proved that size doesnt matter. i will agree i have a descent size home and i have to max it out all the time to watch a movie
just a design flaw IMHO.

Smoking DVD player

Throw it away an buy a new one. WalMart's dvd's and all their electronics stuff are produced in china without any quality control and from the cheapest components. They aren't even worth repair.
Buy a branded DVD (SAMSUNG, Sony) to avoid future problems.
