Question about E-Machines eMachines Desktop PC

My monitor goes to sleep mode at startup & can't access safe mode

My old emachines T2542 has been acting up on me. When I turn the computer on the monitor (HP Pavilion f1903) says the monitor will go to sleep mode and the blue led turns amber and it is in the sleep mode. I hit F8 twice every 2 seconds but cannot access the boot menu. I tried booting it with the original restore cd's and an original XP OS CD and nothing happened. All the connections seems fine, nothing loose. I unpowered it still no luck. The monitor works with other computers just fine. I did not installed a new mobo or video card.
Is it a bad sector? a bad v-drive? what could it be?? I cannot access to anything. I've been thinking to grab the slave hd (where my docs are) and connect to another pc to transfer the files and rebuild it. However don't know how I am going to re-install the drives and OS XP home SVP 3. I have only xp svp 1 and cannot even access the screens to format the hd. Could someone please explain step by step what to do?
If needed I can provide more information as well.

Thank you very much in advance. Your time is appreciated!
Kerem

Turn the computer off, open the case and remove the RAM. Does the computer beep when you turn it on with no RAM? If not, your motherboard is dead.

If your computer beeps, turn it off again and try putting one stick of RAM in. If the computer doesn't turn on normally, try the other stick of RAM.

Also, try taking out the video card and putting it back in.

Good luck,
Jason

Try using a different monitor or use that monitor on a different computer to see if the monitor is bad. It shouldn't have anything to do with your CMOS battery. I'd check to make sure the monitor itself is good before I go tearing my computer apart. Let me know how it goes and maybe we can get it figured out.

Sharp light turns green thern turns yellow screen goes black

it is going into sleep mode, good luck with this.... i am currently asking how to get my hard drive to quite putting my monitor into sleep mode.

although it hasn't worked for me because my screen stays black, one of the options given to me is to try to start in safe mode and then adjust your settings to "never" on the energy/sleep/hibernate mode

some one else suggested that i remove and reseat the video card

hopefully one of those will work for you

Need to access intel graphics application

1. Turn on the computer.
2. Access the safe mode screen. To do this tap on the F8 key after the logo goes away on the screen until the safe mode menu appears. Select VGA mode.
3. This will boot into 640 x 480 resolution, everything will be very big. Now you can go into the properties and select a mode that your monitor can handle.
4. Finally, please rate this solution as fixya as I have answered your question completely with the information you gave me. Thanks! :c)

Emachine sleep mode

Try going into your cmos settings at system boot (usually hitting delete or F keys, funtion keys as your computer first turns on). Check to to see the boot sequence and look for sleep mode settings. If there isnt an option there, boot your system in safe mode and check through your windows settings for sleep mode settings.

Wont work with new computer

Since this was a new out of the box computer, Safe Mode was not allowed. In order to change monitor settings (resolution), I had to use another monitor, in this case a newer CRT. With the CRT, the computer booted up, no problem. Once booted, I turned down the monitor resolution and saved. Now when the Princeton LCD was plugged in and the computer restarted, everything works fine. Now the resolution could be set to limits of the monitor.

Emachine 15' lcd monitor

Hi,

Your query - "can the monitor work with an older HP computer?"

Normally yes, assuming that there is no hardware fault. The message is an indicator that somehow the settings of the display of the old HP computer does not match that of the Emachine 15' LCD monitor.

Perhaps what you can do is to run the old HP PC in Safe Mode (press F8 before Windows starts), using the arrow keys, select top mode setting in the Menu which is Safe Node, hit enter. Windows should then start and normally should be viewable no matter what settings the monitor can handle. On Safe Mode Windows, right click on any clear area of the desktop, click on properties, Settings tab, move the Screen resolution to the left most position, set the color quality to the lowest possible choice. Click on Advanced button, click on Monitor tab, set Screen Refresh Rate to lowest possibler, OK, OK, reboot.

Hope that this be of some help/idea. Pls post back if things worked out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards
