New Cartridge error message

I installed a brand new cartridge but keep getting the message to replace the empty cartridge to resume printing. Printer will not print - not even in black. Any ideas how to correct this problem wow, cant believe everyone has the same problem with the same cartridge. yellow. Our C5150 is driving me nuts with this issue. replaced three times, each time from different store thinking bad batch, and still same error(yellow ink empty) even made a mess in the garage cracking one open to be sure that it was full.....it is now empty-lol-but it WAS full.

I am having the exact same problem with my C5150's yellow as well. I have called HP, they had me reset my printer (twice), and even sent me a new yellow cartridge. None of this worked. The last time I called the technician seemed baffled that the reset didn't work, told me there's nothing else I can do and I should buy a new printer since my warranty has expired. I really don't want to buy a new printer. I think this one should have worked longer than this. I'm eager for someone to find a solution.

The same thing happened to us i was frustrated at my husband because he just up and went and bought a new one. I didn't know this happened to other people, i feel the same it should have lasted longer only about a year and half our warranty also up and the tech said the same thing.Interesting

Did you check to make sure there is nothing covering the cartridge? I know that sounds dumb but that is what happened to me-I had mine refilled and it would not work and when I took it back in they said well-you just take this off here-it was a tiny piece of tape that was almost invisible!

Canon mp390 manual

We suggest you first attempt the basic/universal Canon ink level reset procedures before attempting any of the more advanced procedures provided on our Inkjet411 site*

A. Standard Ink Level Reset Procedure (printers without LCD display):
[ Refer to the 1st support video: http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=62 ]
1) At computer screen message, select 'Stop'/'Reset', 'OK', or 'Resume'.
....or....
2) Select 'Stop'/'Reset', 'OK' or the 'Resume' button (triangle-circle icon) on your printer for 5-8 seconds:
- Printing may continue under the 'ink out' condition.

B. Standard Ink Level Reset Procedure (printers with LCD display):
[ Refer to the 2nd support video: http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=62 ]
1) Install cartridge and start print job.
2) After first message appears, click 'OK' to continue. Printer should start printing.
3) If second message appears and printer's LCD screen displays error code "E", then DO NOT click 'CANCEL PRINTING'.
4) Press and hold down 'Stop'/'Reset' button (triangle-circle icon) on your printer for 5-8 seconds. Printer should start printing.

If you are able to produce a self test print, this is good since it illustrates that the cartridges are electrically stable...if you observe any 'E' or 'V' error states (i.e. E13 or V162 for example), this may indicate there is possibly an internal electrical problem with one of the ink cartridges. Refer to your user guide if E/V error messages are displayed.

*If, after following the suggested ink monitoring/level reset procedures, you still have an error condition which prohibits regular printing, then the ink cartridge probably has internal electrical damage (micro-electronics failure); such a failure is unrelated to the ink cartridge refilling process. Typically, when the cartridge fails the problem is 'masked' by the ink out/empty condition so it can be difficult to distinguish between the two. Many cartridges eventually do encounter problems or failures, especially after their original ink is gone and they are re-used, and this is often unrelated to the refill process (i.e. typically ~2 years from original manufacturing date). Refer to picture at bottom of this page: http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=1533

To verify the Canon printer is functional, install a brand new cartridge in it - this will 100% confirm whether your refilled, compatible or remanufactured ink cartridge is faulty or not.

New ink cartridge in printer saying empty

Assuming you have a refilled or remanufactured cartridge there this is actually pretty normal. These cartridges have no means of checking for new ink in the cartridge so will continue to warn of empty. They will not however stop you from printing as a result.

If however you purchased the cartridge as a brand new cartridge, you may have been miss-sold the cartridge. In which case I would advise speaking to whoever it was purchased from.

Changed yellow ink to new cartridge. Printer won't recognize.

I contacted the Brother site, the support function there. Pursuant to what I found there, I unplugged the printer for ten seconds and replugged. The message display then told me that cyan was empty, and that magenta was near empty.

I installed a new cartridge in place of the empty cyan, and that fixed it.

Error message stating empty cartridge but I bought it new today

sometimes it does happen. please carefully try it several times and try to doing it in different manner.

you can try wiping out dirt and other things that can prevent the print cartridge from functioning ..

you can even disconnect the printer cable from the pc while trying to fix the cartridge, and checking the cartridge installed light to know if it's right.
thanks for your question..

PRINTING WITH BLACK INK CARTRIDGE ONLY; COLORED CARTRIDGE IS EMPTY.

Apparently, if you hold the "resume button" (the one next to the power button) for about five seconds after you get the message saying to replace the color ink cartridge the machine starts printing. I did this after I went to "maintenance" under "preferences" and changed ink to "black only." At first that alone did not work, but after trying the resume button for 5 secs it worked okay.
