Some Film DVD's with THX logo on them have a set up system to get the best sound balance for speakers.

Surround Sound System Settings ---- Correct Time Delay Setting in Multi-channel Audio

A correctly set surround sound system can yield dramatic improvements to your
home theater sound or multi-channel music listening experience. In particular,
a correctly set time delay setting between the different channels is essential
for a realistic and unified surround soundfield.
Luckily, most of today's surround processors make setting the time delays
between the rear and the fronts a matter of a few entries in the setup menu.
Yet having a proper understanding of the principles behind correct time delay
settings is essential for the best results.
In this guide, we explain the principles behind time delay settings in surround
sound and show you how to adjust your surround processor or AV receiver for the
best surround sound field.

Time Delay Setting in Multi-channel Surround Sound Systems

Correct home theater speaker placement and properly balanced sound levels
between the different channels in multi-channel audio, while crucial, are not
enough to sustain a unified soundfield in a surround sound setup. A correctly
set surround sound system requires that sound from all the different speakers
reach the listener at exactly the same instant.
This explains why all fronts, left, right and center channel speakers, should
be set at exactly the same distance from the listening position. At the same
time, in a typical home theater setup, the surround speakers are closer to the
viewer than the fronts.

To compensate for this distance discrepancy, surround sound playback systems
apply a split-second delay to the surround sound channels.

I get full surround while watching a movie throough the dvd player /blue ray player but cant get surround sound through my normal tv and yes i have a cable box if it matters ,, when i am in stereo mode i...

If you have the users manual for the unit, go to the troubleshooting section or the section that explains how to set individual speaker levels and effects and reset the balance there. It sounds like somebody tried to set things in this way but maybe got a little confused and turned off the wrong selections. There should be a demo program built into the receiver that allows the listener to hear all of the different settings available with the different effects also. Hope this helps.

Hi, i wanna know how i can get correct and good withe balance in many different place under sun and beside wit filters change ?thx advence

i think youre trying to ask how to create a good balance, but im not sure what you mean. theres a balance of bass to treble, and theres a balance of sound so yu dont feel too far from any speakers.

balance between bass and treble can be done with tuning the stereo and the amplifier gain.

balance so you dont feel too far from a speaker, most people get more speakers, or run a 4 channel amp to their speakers to make them louder.

Back surround speakers dont work.

If the display reads 2 chan then that means stereo, and the sound mode is not in any type of surround processing. For your surround speakers to operate you must select a surround sound mode.

MY JBL Platinum Series speakers work on one side

the first thing to establish whether its the speakers would be to try them on a different computer. If there is some sound, that means its getting some feedback. Maybe you could go to sound manager in your control panel, or on the volume menu that you can access by clicking the volume icon on your desktop taskbar, you know, by the time and stuff. Once there, adjust the balance by moving the slider all the way to either side to see if its unbalanced. You might also wanna adjust the sound scheme from mono to stereo or dolby digital which would be in the same menu/ window. Does the right speaker thats plugged into the tower have a balance (R)ight and (L)eft? you might also want to adjust that to either side. If that is not helping, maybe there is a hardware issue with the left speaker, maybe a short, or a problem with the wire and you might have to replace that speaker if you do not know how to fix speakers. Tell me how everything works out.

I need help with my surround sound!!

The calibration mic thing is to balance the sound evenly on surround sound systems, it replacles the older systems "TEST TONE" speaker setup, in other words it will balance each speaker say in a 5.1 setup to adjust the level output so the listening position is not overwhemled by say the rear surround speaker overriding the front left & right speaker or the most critical the center speaker. The calibration mic uses computer tech to make it easier for the user, no sound pressure calibration is needed as with the test tone setup mentioned earlier. The wireless speaker situation could be possibly waiting for the calibration confirmation, Read any user manual information if available.
