SOURCE: wall remote that controls ceiling fan & lights not working

Either the bulb is blown or the connection under the wire nut is loose. First check the bulb then turn off the power at the panel and check each wire nut by unscrewing it and making sure that the wires are tightly twisted together before reinstalling the wire nut.

SOURCE: Can't control light at switch

It is wired so that you control the light with the remote. You cannot have it both ways. You either control it with the wall switch or the remote. Once you kill the power to the receiver by turning off power at the wall switch, you are only applying power to the receiver when you turn power back on. You are not supplying power to the light. You then must turn on the light with the remote. This is the purpose of a remote fan/light control. You could rewire it to control the light with the switch and only control the fan with the remote if you wish, but as you have it now, it is working correctly.

My remote lights up when you press the button but it's not controlling my fan.

Controlling a ceiling fan/light using a wall switch causes the remote control to lose its memory. You will have to start all over at the beginning. Remove batteries from the remote, push all buttons to eliminate a stuck button as a cause, then reinstall batteries but do not push any button yet. Be sure all wall switches are off. Go to the power source for the fan/light (not the wall switch) and turn it off. Wait briefly, then turn on the power at the source again. Try remote operation. If successful, use only the remote to control operation. Forget about using the wall switches.

Is there a way to take remote controll off of a fan mine stoped working after kids pulled fan or light pull

My ceiling fan loses remote control every time there is a power outage. The first thing to do is turn off power to the fan at the circuit breaker. Take the battery out of the remote and push all the buttons to eliminate a stuck button as a possible cause. Reinstall the battery. Turn on power to the fan. Check operation. You may have to pull a chain to "reeducate" the remote but you should be back up and running soon.

A light bulb in my ceiling fan burned out the other night when I turned it on with the remote. I changed the bulb, but since then the remote will not turn the light on or off. The wall switch will, and...

Sometimes all you need to do is switch the wall switch on and, off a few times while you press the lamp button (off press the button then: on press the button) no go? then: check or, replace the hand remote nine volt battery. still no go? then:
Check the wattage of the replacement bulb; some high wattage bulbs will rob power from the remote unit. didn't work? OK,
next turn off the power to the lamp and, open the lamp cover: you will see a large plastic rectangular box (the reciever) open the cover on the box and, you will see a block of tiny switches then: open the hand remote battery case it too will have a block of tiny switches these must match i.e. 1,3,5,= on 2, 4, = off both the remote and, reciever box. Barring that ...you'll need a new reciever for your fan.

I do lost the programing instructions

Try this, just be patient as it may take a couple of minutes to program.
Here you go. This will work with most all universal remote controls. If you don't have the code do the following:
Automatic Programming
With automatic programming, the remote control tests all the codes available on the Code List and assigns the correct code for the selected device. Although this method can be more time-consuming, it eliminates the need to look up codes and enter them manually.

1. Turn off the device with which you want to use the remote control.

2. Press and hold the corresponding button on the remote control
(TV, VCR, SAT, DVD, CAB or AUD) until POWER INDICATOR illuminates. It should take a couple of seconds for the light to remain solid. The remote control is in programming mode.

3. Press and release power button. The POWER INDICATOR flashes once and stays on indicating the unit is in Power Scan mode.

4. Press CHANNEL up or CHANNEL down repeatedly until the device turns on.

5. When the device turns on, press OK to store the code.

Note:
• To exit without storing the code, press BACK.
• T he unit will search for the next code or the previous code if you press
CHANNEL up or CHANNEL down after the device turns on. (go slow you need to press OK when the TV turns on) if you mess up turn TV off and start over.
6. Press any other button. If the device responds, the remote control has been programmed. If the device does not respond, repeat steps 2-5.
