Question about Sansui VRDVD5000 DVD Recorder/VCR

Open Question

Model MQ-2000 won't work

I inherited a Model MQ-2000 4 Channel Music Center that plays 78 & 33 1/2 records.  I set it up and can get the turntable to turn.  I did not get a manual so I need your help.  Please send a manual or help me via email. I know it's an old system, but I have an extensive collection of records and would like to get the MC going.  Thank You.   Mel Eggers

SOURCE: only spinning at 1 speed

This is a high dollar turntable. If you want, take the screws out, open it up and check that the direct drive speed gear is in place. Other than that I would take it to a repair shop. There's one guy on ebay selling a new one for $500.00 http://cgi.ebay.com/Technics-SL-1200MK2-Manual-Direct-Drive-Turntable-New_W0QQitemZ320132536688QQihZ011QQcategoryZ64448QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

SOURCE: How do you adjust the speed of a Memorex 2601M?

Go inside and look at the main board you should see two/three presets, one for 45 and one for 33 etc.
If not look at the top of the motor for a small hole, it might be covered with a label.

How do you record from my tv and what channels will I get?

Has this ever worked?

When you mention channel I assume you mean the channel on your TV set. Normally an S-Video input will be an aux input channel and not a numbered station on your set. How do you select the player chanel/ input when you watch the DVD?

Is the arial connected to the PVR then to the TV or direct to the TV It needs t pass through the PVR.

This unit doesn't have a tuner of any sort. Even on the few DVR/DVD recorders that have tuners, the external composite video inputs do not connect to the tuner. To record from the L1 or L2 inputs, you must be using a set-top box (cable, satellite, or digital-to-analog converter for OTA signals) or another video source (video camera or a vcr). Most TVs do not have video output capabilities. If you have one of those, follow the directions for recording from set-top boxes below.

Turn on and set the source to the channel that you wish to record for any set-top box. Then make sure that the set-top box is left on and at the correct channel after you finish setting the frequency, speed and length of time for the recording. Note: if the set-top box is turned off, your recorder will still record the blank video and audio.
What source do you have connected to the VCR?

To record from a video camera or a VCR, set that source to play back at the desired time point. This is best done without the timer. Just start recording and then the playback.

I hope this helps. Please add a comment with your video source for more support.

(My OTA tuner has a energy-saver option that turns off the unit when there is no activity for a while. Since I usually record when I'm either asleep or away from home, I had to disable the feature to get the correct recordings.)

A manual for a SANYO Record player - Model JXT4404K.

The old style turntable had one common problem, the grease would get hard over period of years grinding them to a halt. Remove center spindle, "anti-clockwise turn and pull up", now remove the c clip with a flat head screwdriver and remove pladder,"may take some wiggling to work it loose because the grease is like dried rubber" When pladder is removed be carefull in taking out the metal ring,"tiny ball bearings underneath, also! there is a large cogwheel with a small leaver," check to make sure it moves freely, now the tricky part, get rubbing alcohol Q-Tips and paper towels, remove the old grease from all parts, phono grease, fine grease, or general purpose will work, apply as you assemble. "note to find a manual would be next to impossible"

I have background music but no audio(dialogue) coming from my Samsung Blu-Ray player. What can I do to fix it?

You may be trying to play a Blu Ray movie with only a 2 speaker setup. If you do that, you won`t be able to hear the voices because the Blu Ray player is sending just the left and right audio channels and not sending the center channel because there is no speaker for it. If you only have 2 speakers, then check your manual for the option to change that 5.1 channel audio stream into a 2 channel so the voices will show up in the left and right speakers.

Suddenly cannot record DVD after years

Hi,

Apologies for the delay in response. Your concern was just brought to my attention.

To your recording, based on your second posting (and would appreciate corrective information where applicable), your system is:
  • Cable provider > Cable Decoder Box > Panasonic DMR-E75V > TV (equipment setup)
  • single coaxial cable > yellow, red & white > yellow, red & white (wiring setup).
With your indulgence, a couple clarifying questions:
  • to watch the Panasonic when you play DVDs, to what channel or source or setting must the TV be set to?
  • to record a TV program/channel, to what channel or source or setting must the Panasonic be set to?
  • what is the brand and model of your Cable Decoder Box?
Initially, pls try:
  • play any known good DVD disc/movie. power on the TV and set to watch said movie;
  • without changing anything on the TV, STOP the playing of the DVD;
  • try changing channel on your Cable Decoder Box's remote;
  • pls post back result(s); or
  • do the above steps again but before changing the channels on the decoder box's remote;
  • try changing/cycling through the different input/source of the Panasonic DVD;
  • again post back result(s).
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

This recorder only records inline. This means that there is no channel on recorder. It records whatever your satellite or cable box is showing. You'll have to change the channel on that.

I don't know that this will work for timed recording. You'll have to make sure that your cable/satellite is on and set to the proper channel before you leave. This wont work if you're recording multiple shows on different channels while you're gone. In that case you may need a different recorder.
