Question about Sony STR-DE825 Receiver

1 Answer

Right front speaker channel has a lower than usual output...

I have a STR-DE825, recently I noticed that the right front speaker was very low when compared to the front left speaker, I have checked the same speaker in left speaker connection and it is a lot louder as it should be. Its on as there is sound coming out of the front right channel but its just lower than the left.

Any ideas on how to solve this?

Note. I have checked all the settings for the front speakers and all appear to be normal.

Many thanks.

Very basically try swapping over the speaker cables, if this doesnt work i suspect you are in need of a new ouput i.c. these can go if the speaker wires are touched together, unless there is a protection circuit.

Check that the mute is not on.If a headphone is plugged into the receiver the speakers will be muted.Verify the the output selector is set to the correct source. Here is a simple check.Select a strong FM radio station.Plug in a headphone. If you are receiving an audio thru the headset. Then disconnect the headset and see if the audio is transmitted to the speakers. If you still have no speaker sound check to see if the speakers have fuses which may be blown.I would try another set of speakers to determine if it's the amplifer or the speakers. The amplifer has fuses as well. Str-gx800es sony receiver problem- right channel speaker sound is 'static', low and distorted. I have checked checked all speaker and output/input source cable connections with no luck. All left channel...

If you have checked the speakers and wiring, the right channel has a audio driver or output problem, which explains the low volume, static, and distortion. A service technician will be required to fix the receiver so it will balance the left side.

Most likely it's due to bad solder for the Blue Relays. It can be fixed by re-soldering.

Right speaker channel low, both front and and back, even the headphones

There might be a levels adjustment in the setup menu for distance or something, might check that before opening unit up.

Your problem must be caused by the right channel (rear, front whatever..)side feeding resistor on the power supply.
