SOURCE: My Krups model 288 toaster won't always latch down.

You can fix this yourself by following these instructions. Unplug your toaster before proceeding!... Clean the toaster first. Turn the toaster upside-down and shake out the crumbs. Remove and clean the bottom crumb tray. 1. Unscrew the four Phillips head screws located in the corners of the bottom base. Remove the screws completely if possible. Do this over a cloth or newspaper - that way a stuck screw won't get lost if it falls out later. 2. With the toaster right-side up, pull off the wide toast lever knob. Do not remove the round adjustment knob (it will not come off from the outside) but make a mental note of what number (1-7) is showing at the knob's adjustment mark. 3. Carefully pry up the end of the case cover with the knob on it (don't pull on the "stop" button). When the knob's plastic shaft is clear of the circuit board, gently pull off the cover. 4. On the inner part of the circuit board you will see a black plastic "cam" surrounded by two sets of electrical contacts. Rotate the cam to open the contact points if necessary. Insert a thin nail file between the points and rotate the cam to trap the file between them, then scrub back and forth several times to clean the contact points. Do this for each contact on both sides of the cam. When finished, rotate the cam clockwise so it is all the way back down to it's original position. 5. To make re-assembly easier, remove the round adjustment knob from the cover by depressing the half-round shaft flanges inside the cover with your fingernails. 6. Re-assemble the toaster by reversing steps 1 & 2. Replace the knobs, making sure that the round one is in the same position you noted earlier before you push it all the way down.

I need a Manual for a Krups Counter Convection Oven

Krups has one manual for the FBC2, FBC3 and FBC4 models. Start here: http://www.krups.com/Consumer+Services/Product+Support/Manuals/Use+Intructions.htm and use the drop-down menu on the left to select Toaster Ovens. Then select the FBC2. Click on the green and black icon to download the manual. The direct link to the manual is http://www.krups.com/NR/rdonlyres/5605B757-078E-4DF1-9DED-A884209066C8/4351/TOASTOVENFBC234_usa.pdf . The manual is also available here: http://static.highspeedbackbone.net/pdf/TOASTOVENFBC234_engusa.pdf . You can also get this manual from the Krups FBC2 product page: http://www.krups.com/All+Products/Toaster+Ovens/Products/FBC2/FBC2.htm . Click on the Instructions link.

I hope this helps.

My Krups Sensotoast Deluxe just stopped working. Can you help me? I really don't want to throw it out because it's relatively new and I expected a product with this name to last a lot longer.

The printed circuit board is likely burned out. It's pretty sad really. This is a poorly designed toaster. Krups owes us new toasters in my opinion. Looks like a fire hazard too. If you are curious, you can remove the 4 philips head screws out of the bottom of the toaster, gently pry off the push down lever and the dial, and examine the board and connections. 8_25_2012_1_16_19_pm.jpg

On off button usually fais to respond to on

It could be a problem with the board as that on/off button is one complete unit with the board, digital display and buttons attached. If you want to fix it yourself get your model number (FBC212) and head over to 1800Parts.com to see if they have the board in stock. You can also call Krups directly and they will tell you a service station in your area. We are one of their national service stations but we are in New York.

Krups Sensotoast Deluxe -- Stopped working!!! Checked outlet. Not the problem.

Did the same to me
The ceramic heater to wire connection broke off
not a prayer of fixing it
The heating elements are in a series circuit, so as goes one element, so goes both elements.

Krups toaster won't work.

I do not know the exact inner workings of this toaster, but I can suggest what the fault may be.

Many of the toasters use a separate high power section in the eating element for toasting. This part of the element could have gone defective. There is the possibility the computer board that directs the power for the higher temperature mode for toasting has failed.

The only reliable way to know is to try the computer board, element assembly, or the switches if the switches are on a separate module than the computer board.

Just to add... These toaster units usually have a thermo protection fuse. These fuses have a temperature rating. It would be in series with the element. This fuse may have failed. This is a common fault in many of these types of units. This type of fuse is rated in Degrees C or F, and not in Amps. it is a thermo fuse.

Lever will not stay down on Krups 155 ToastControl Compact

No promises, but I had a similar problem with a Breville Clasic. Toasters these days use a solenoid (electromagnet) to hold down the toast carriage. This solenoid is usually soldered to the circuit board, and is reasonably big, i.e. 1/3 a cigarette pack.. on mine, because of repeated impact when the carriage is pushed down, one solder connection developed a haiirline fracture. This meant that most of the time it wouldn't stay down. I resoldered the connections and all ok.
