I bought a Hamilton Beach Food Steamer/rice cooker at a garage sale. What I would like to know is do you put the water in the same bowl with the rice?

The plastic plate that came with my rice cooker, what is it, I lost my manual

What is the actual model number? HB makes several and none of the current or listed ones are 37531.

37541 is a current model, also none are "10 Cup" and the "plate" or tray, is for steaming vegetables.

Hamilton beach 20 cup rice cooker

The rice cooker should have markings on the side of the pot. This indicates the water level for a given amount of rice. For instance, if you add 4 cups of rice, you add water until it is level with the 4 mark.

Steamer/rice cooker

you can put at least 3 glasses of water.(depends on how big your glass is).

its up to your prefernce when you want to put the food. but it much better to put the food when the water starts to boil.

hope this helps!

Cooking Rice

Ironically, I came to this site with the same questin you posted. I just found my manual. This is how tha manual tells you to steam rice:

Place one of the steamer baskets on the steamer base.

Place 1 cup of rice and 10 ozs of water in the rice bowl.

Place the rice bowl on the steamer basket and cover the steamer.

Set timer for approximately 32 minutes, depending on your taste.

Good luck!
