Question about Radio Communications

I have a radio shack trr470 and I bought a cobra CA-76 power mic with a 5 pin conector instead of a 6 pin conecter by mistake .can I use this mic on this radoo .do you know what cooe wires form tje mic go to what pin numbet I know I wont be able to change the chanels from the mic so long as I can use the power mic im ok with it. According to the schematic I just looked at the mic for this radio is a 5 pin. As long as it is a plug in and not a din you should have no problem connecting it.All you have to do is re-wire it and be on your way.

cobra usually is white= mic audio, red= ptt, black= receive or speaker complete

cobra 4 pin is pin1= shield, pin2= mic audio (usually the shield is wrapped around the mic audio wire).pin 3= transmit or push to talk usually red or white whichever isnt wrapped with the shield, and pin4 = receive or speaker complete

5 pin cobra=1-Audio 2- Shield 3-Receive 4-Switching Wire 5-Transmit, you can jump pins 4 and two

1 Shield 2 White 3 Red 4 Black if the radio keys up as soon as you turn it on reverse 3 and 4 I am not familiar with that mic.But the way I actually should have given you the wiring order is as follows:1Shield 2 Modulation 3 and 4 key up I hope this helps.

I suggest buying a 5 pin to 4 pin adapter. Ebay has them for $6. I would go chopping wires on the mic. Cobra 29 ltd is a nice radio. Have one myself.

SOURCE: I have a cobra 148gtl with 5 pin side plug for

ALLways start with ground. Find ground on radio pin with ohm meter. EVERY thing operates off ground. Once you find ground on radio....solder your ground wire on mike cord to corresponding # on mike jack. Once you have ground on proper pin then all else is elementary......use ohm meter to see which wires are TX and RX on mike.....last wire is audio wire.

most 5 pin with wires can and will work for a 4 pin--you just need to know the pin out versus the wires in the mic you are trying to wire it to.

A great mic is the RK56 $39.99+tax in Temple, TX on Hwy 95.. And comes with a 4pin for cobras but can be wired for any radio

5 pin to 4 pin as follows, from the Cobra website.
1.->2 Audio
2.->1 Shield and common
3.->4 RX
4.->also goes to pin 1
5.->3 TX

1) violet 2) blue 3 ) shield 4) yellow 5) grnd Violet inside the mic is the power wire . Blue and yellow are the internal and external speakers. the other wires are to the antenna
