Resetting waste in absorber code for IP4900

It's a new printer but I've cleaned too often and the waste absorber error won't let me print, so I need to somehow reset it. It's clean.

You ink absorber is full

1. Download canon service mode tools v3400 from the net.
2. Set the printer in Service Mode: - power OFF the printer bu Power button. Dont disconnect power cable
- connect the printer by USB cable to the PC.
- press and hold Resume button (red triangle in the red circle) and press Power button
- hold both buttons until power on indicator will light then release resume button (dont release Power button) and press Resume button 5 times
- release all buttons - the printer will blink few times with green light and will then light green constantly. You have put the printer in Service Mode now and you can now run the Service Tool. (If the printer is still blinking by green - you have some other errors in printer and you have to fix them first, because the Service Tool will not work if the printer is not put in service mode - green light is constant)
3. Run the Servicetools V3400.exe program.
4. Select the connected USB port number from USB PORT
5. In the Ink Absorber Counter section of the Service Tool, select MAIN from the Absorber pull-down menu.
6. From the Counter Value(%) pull-down menu, select the value (in 10% increments) which is the closest to the actual counter value confirmed before replacement of the logic board, and click SET.
Print EEPROM information to confirm that the value is properly set to the EEPROM.

SOURCE: Waste ink tank / absorber

you need to dismantle the printer by opening the scanner lid, pinging the blue arm out of the white retainer with a screw driver, flip the scanner lid right over onto the desk on the LH side of the printer - it will come off its hinges for this. lay it lid down on the LH side of the printer - be careful not to snap the power and data cable connecting with the base. Next you have to remove the 4 retainer screws in order to remove the plastic cover over the rest of the base. The pad and ink box are at the rear on the right hand side.

The waste ink absorbers on this machine are under the print engine and cover the entire bottom of the printer. You have to have access to the diagnostic program on the printer to reset the error codes.

My printer epson me 300series is showing service required"as printer is end of its life" ,what does it mean?

Inkjet printers have a thing called Waste Ink Absorber. It's a box with a felt pad that absorbs the ink "spat" out of the printing heads during head cleaning, both manually initiated and automatic cleaning run by the printer itself.
The printer has a counter that counts the number of times cleaning has run, thus preventing the absorber from overflowing with waste ink and spilling it onto whatever the printer is standing on.

This message therefore means, that the counter has reached it's maximum and demands replacement of the absorber. On wide-format, professional Epson printers the ink absorber is a user-replaceable consumable. In cheap home printers it's built in and can be replaced and the counter reset only by a service person, which in turn is usually not very feasible; it may be cheaper to purchase a new printer.

However, if you are an adventurous type, here's a tip. The counter is usually quite conservative, and the absorber can take much more ink than the counter would allow. There are methods to reset the counter in some Epson printers; consult this page to find a solution that may work for you:

Clean it out, its a pad underneath the print head, you've not said which model printer you have so I suggest you go to the manufacturers web site, follow links for support and see if there's a FAQ frequently asked questions page with your issue mentioned.

How do I get a new mp830 waste ink absorber for my mp830 printer?

The "waste ink absorber" in these models is just a length of cotton inside the printer that absorbs the waste ink. Usually they are rinsed and dried and replaced, and the printer is reset. I do not know of anywhere to get new ones

Erro code on printer

Error code means
E27 = Waste ink absorber full or platen waste ink absorber full

Yes, you can do this yourself.

YOu can do a search on here for the error code, there are instructions on how to reset the error and clean the absorber..

Or you can do a search for the "SERVICE" manual for your printer and order it, then follow it's instructions to clean the pads and reset the error.

Let me know if you can't find the solution on here, and I will post it for you.

Printer show E 2 7.

Hi zaris79,

The E27 code means that the waste ink absorber is full. You'll need to clean the absorber pads and reset the error code. Here's how:

The absorber pads are on the right side of the printer, under the ink cartridges. With the printer on, lift the top to expose the cartridges. They will automatically move out of the way (you can move them to the left by hand if the printer is off). You might need a flashlight to see the pads - each is positioned in a rubber retainer.Take the pads out of the retainers with tweezers and clean them with warm water. If there is ink in the rubber retainer, wipe it out with a paper towel. Finally, put the clean pads back into the retainers.

If the printer does not realize that the absorbers are clean, it may still give you the error code - here's how you reset it:

1)With the printer powered off but connected to a power source, hold down the Stop/Reset button and press Power (the power light should light up).
2) When the Power is lit, hold down the power button, and press the Stop/Reset button two times (then release both - the printer should enter service mode. (Waiting for menu selection)
3) Press the Stop/Reset button 4 times to reset the waste ink counter.
4) Turn off the printer, and turn it on normally. That should do it.

For your reference, here is the complete list of error codes for the MP150:

E2 No paper (ASF)
E3 Paper jam
E4 No ink
E5 The ink cartridges are not installed or a non-supported ink cartridge is installed, or the ink cartridges are not installed properly
E8 Waste ink absorber full, or platen waste ink absorber full
E9 The connected digital camera / video camera does not support Camera-Direct Printing
E14 The Ink cartridges whose destination are wrong
E15 Ink cartridge is not installed E16 - Ink remaining is unknown
E16 -E19 Failed to scan head alignment sheet
E22 Carriage error
E23 Paper feed error
E24 Purge unit error
E25 ASF(cam) sensor error
E26 Internal temperature rise error
E27 Waste ink absorber full or platen waste ink absorber full
E28 Ink cartridge temperature rise error -
E29 EEPROM error
E33 Paper feed position error
E35 15 USB Host VBUD overcurrent error - USB
E37 17 Abnormal motor driver error
E40 20 Other hardware error
E42 22 Scanner error

I hope this helps - please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

Kind regards,
H2H
