When Skype uses the Lifecam, an icon named "Microsoft LifeCam Dashboard"(it looks like a round blue button) shows up in the System Tray (lower right corner of the desktop). Click the icon to pop up the dashboard.

the camera has a built in microphone,so after a proper installation you should have the video and mic funtioning.
but in your case, the cam doesn't work, so you have to try first uninstall the driver >> unplug the camera USB port >> then make a restart >> plud the camera back into the usb >> and install the drivers again.

Nx-6000: no image under Vista

It turns out you need to go to Microsoft's hardware download page and download the full (117MB!) driver and software for this neat camera. The software will ask you to install Microsoft Live (aka MSN Messenger), but you don't have to.
When you see the dialog boxes that explain, setup, and test your camera and microphone - you got it!
Be sure to select the camera from the Skype options/video setup page, and all the other options. Be sure to start you camera if you had set it up such that it does not start automatically.
