I bought a used Ford Crown Victoria with an Avital system installed and the seller told me the way the system was setup was using the keyless entry to unlock the doors as the only way to start the car

The way the system was set up?! Here is what it sounds like. If you cannot start the car with the key but, you can start it with the remote starter means two things; the car has a starter inhibit installed and it's active or, the starter wire is cut and isolated from the ignition cylinder and the remote starter is connected to the starter side only of said cut wire.
About the keyless entry; Ford vehicle have a battery save mode that, after 10 minutes or so, the GEM module goes to sleep. The installation of a keyless entry system on these vehicles require connections at the unlock, driver's door ajar/latch wire and factory alarm disarm and programmed to double pulse. This will wake up the GEM and unlock the doors.

My car alarm key remote is not working. alarm not responding to remote. is remote broken

This might sound stupid, but have you tried first replacing battery in remote, this could cause this instantly, just like a TV remote. First try that. Hope that solves it right away.

My DEI Valet system will not operate the door locks. It responds to the remote with lights flashing as normal, but it does not engage or disengage the lock. The Automautic start feature continues to work...

You failed to mention the year/make/model of the vehicle so, I will assume that there existed some sort of door lock/unlock/alarm disarm bypass module in your vehicle that is no longer functioning. There is no simpler fix then either resetting the module or, remove and replace it.

Car alarm goes off in the night only. How can I

1. make sure no one is trying to steal your car. 2. it should be a simple fuse that you can disconnect 3. if not, cut the wires to your horn (you wont be able to pass inspection if you do this)

My valet remote control RPN491 Starts vehiclr and unlocks doors but will not lock doors do I need to reprogram remoteto unlock doors?

Ok you said "unlock doors' but you said it already unlocks the doors. This remote should lock and unlock door on same button, if you are describing the 2 button remote. If it is not then it could be alot of things. Does the alarm lock itself? Does the alarm lock the door when you turn on the ignition? More info is really needed. Like what veh and what model alarm.

Keyless Entry doesn't unlock my doors anymore

Did you get help? My problem is similar but not as bad. My viper550ESP no longer remotely unlocks the doors (well very, very occasionally it does). That is the only problem.
