GE Profile JTP950 Double Oven temperature not going on

Our double oven has been problematic for about a year. We solved the dreaded F7 error with a suggestion to insulate the ribbon with slips of paper. Now we have a different problem. The top convection oven doesn't go above the 100 degree mark. I can hear the convection fan working properly. The bottom oven worked for awhile but now the bottom oven is doing the same. I disconnected the power and restarted. The panel for the time display 12:0 when turned on. After resetting the time, it looks normal. Ignoring that, the panel appears to work fine. So both ovens will not heat.same problem as other person. I have replaced control unit to no avail.
cound it be the limit switch on the outside back of the oven or do you think it is the key pad?? has had f0 and f7 error codes in the past.

The most likely is that the faulty part is the thermostat or sensor probe, in this case the oven will have 200 on display, for example, and wont heat more than 100.

The limit switch must also be tested.

If it is none of the above then the problem is the control board.

How much is many degrees different? Some ovens can be off by as much as 50 degrees. Sometimes you can pull the temp. knob off & adjust the temp. on the knob to the temp. on your oven thermometer. Sounds like the ovens thermostat is going bad. Can be pretty expensive to replace. You might be better off to turn the temp. knob up to a higher temp. setting to reach the oven temp. you want & go by your oven thermometer..
If there is a difference in temp.....
only thing to do is replace the thermostat then. Get the model # off the plate on the oven & go to your local appliance store & get a price on a replacement.

However,
If your not getting any heat from the bake or broil elements, its a good chance the control board has gone out.

Its a pretty costly board, and on some models the wiring will have to be changed quite abit, which is very difficult. A appliance repair tech. is recommended on this part...

Thnx.

Ge profile performance double oven. getting an F7

F7 is a stuck keypad/button.
Push all buttons at random several times each. This will sometimes un-stick a stuck button.
If that does not work the keypad control will have to be replaced.

326B1230P001 GE Double oven that displays ?F7? and beeps

I have a GE JT950 double oven that just did the same thing: F7 and beeps like crazy. I found solution on another post: an engineer figured out how to solve the issue without calling GE or buying parts. I just did it tonight and it worked fine. Here is a copy of the post:

Send an e-mail to Charlie at hutchipop@yahoo.com for a fix-it that you can try. He explains a possible solution fully with his 'The Dreaded "F7" Error' solution. I actually found his information on another website when I did a web search for "GE Profile Oven F7 Issue". I sent an e-mail to him and he replied with free fix-it information. I am not a repair person myself, but, his instructions are very clear and simple to follow. I did the fix-it at no cost in approximately 10 minutes and it has solved my problem

F7 error message on GE oven

My oven is also a JT950 and the builder installed it in our home back in 2000. Our F7 issue started about 2 years ago. For a few months, "clearing" the panel and/or shutting the oven off at the breaker panel would temporarily solve the problem. About 1 1/2 year ago, however, the F7 would come on and continually beep. A repairman looked at the oven and replaced the control panel at a cost of $600 (ugh...). That solved the problem until a month ago when the F7 continuous beeping began again. There was no way I was going to pay another $600. for "temporary" repair and I was thinking of replacing the oven. Luckily, I came across the above-mentioned fix-it information and took a chance by following the simple instructions provided.
