See the very first thing is that what u can try is that try and connect the same mouse that u had and that had worked and if works then the prob is with the mouse that u have right now and if that also doesnt work then the usb port on the laptop has gone bad and u need to replace the motherboard of the computer but before replacing the motherboard try and connect some other usb device on the same usb port.........

Purchased new laptop and wireless mouse, first day worked great, after a week tried to use mouse again.....just not working have replaced battery no luck

I would try unplugging the usb receiver and restarting the computer.
Then plug it back in.
Sadly, with these, along with replacing the battery, that's the only option.

Says usb port has a problem when mouse will not scroll

1) Try another usb device in that port.
2) Try the mouse in another USB port.

Is the only way to see if the problem is the port or the mouse. Also make sure that the mouse is plugged to the port directly, not to an USB hub.

My USB mouse dies every so often and requires me to unplug the device, and replug it back in for it to work. I already tried uninstalling and rebooting. help plz =(

- Try another USB port to plug-in the mouse.
- Make sure that the mouse is physically fine. Its USB plug is clean. You may test the mouse on some other computer.

Hope this helps!

IF..you have plugged it into other USB ports and it still does not work, but other USB devices work from those ports, you may need to buy a replacement.
Does it work in other computerss or laptop?

My DEll mouse stops working when it feel like it. have to shut computer off and turn back on for mouse to light and work for awhile again. What"s wrong?wrong

Try your mouse in different USB ports, if it works well in the other ports then you know your original port is bad. If the mouse still acts up, then go ahead and try another usb mouse in the computer. If the 2nd mouse is working then you know the original mouse is bad. If the 2nd mouse is not working then you know that the usb ports on your motherboard are bad.

I am trying to hook my mouse up to my new laptop but I can't get it to work. Please help.

1.Put in the batteries Find the battery cover and slide it off. Insert the appropriate batteries.

2.Plug in the receiver to the computer. Usually the receiver will plug into the USB port, but some plug into the mouse port. If all of your USB ports are filled, see if the mouse came with a USB adapter. The adapter fits into the mouse port. Be careful not to accidentally force the mouse adapter into the keyboard port.

3.Connect the mouse once you have it plugged in. The receiver should have a visible button that is easily pushable by the average human finger. The mouse will usually have a very small hole with a button inside it that can only be pushed by something like a pencil or paper clip. Push both buttons at the same time with the receiver and the mouse relatively close to each other for about 5 seconds or more.

4.Position the receiver in a place that isn't far away from the mouse. Depending on where you are, you can place it on the monitor, on the tower, on the back of your laptop (if you are installing the mouse to your laptop) or on the desk. The furthest a wireless mouse can get away from the receiver without not working very well is about 9 feet (2.7 meters), so keep that in mind.

5.Test your new mouse.

* If you plugged into the mouse port, restart your computer manually.
* If you plugged it into the USB port you may begin using it.
* When the cursor moves when you move the mouse, you have connected the mouse properly. If the cursor doesn't move, try repositioning the receiver. If it still doesn't work, you may need to restart your computer (if you haven't already) or reconnect everything.

This should help you to fix the problem.

Where do hook up wireless. I have dell desk top.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Almost always, wireless mouse makes use of the USB port to connect its base/receiver. Depending on the exact model of the Dell desktop, there would normally be USB ports at the rear of the computer. Some others have 2 USB ports at the front or side.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.
