Question about Acer 22" X223w LCD Monitor

Acer Z223w Display Problem

I have an Acer X223w monitor. On the left side of the screen approximately 1 in over is a red line (some times yellow) about 1 or Pixels wide. It runs vertically the whole length of the screen. from top to bottom. Does anyone know what could cause this? Is it an easy fix? I can use a soldering iron, and an ohm meter, but I would need pretty detailed instructions about what to look for and so on. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Shane

This is either your monitor or, more likely, your graphics card telling you it's going to fail soon.
Try another monitor, if that sorts it you're done. If not, it's the video source (graphics card).

SOURCE: Acer x223w - no option to goto 1680x1050

It would seem, somehow, your graphics driver was corrupted. The only thing to do is re-install graphics drivers. These can be found with a quick Google Search: CLICK ME

The first link, to DriversCollection.com, looks promising. This one is for Windows Vista or XP, but you need to specify on the tabs near the top of the page. Make sure you download the correct driver, as this page includes other drivers. You're looking for "Graphics Driver" [Vista] or "Video Driver" [XP].

Hope this works for you.

SOURCE: My monitor has a yellow line running down the middle

This is a bad LCD panel. If it is still under warranty, your best bet is to have it replaced again. The only fix is to replace the actual panel and that would cost more than a new monitor.

A red line in middle of screen, traded out with other monitor and thats what im using now

Usually lines, multicolored artifact etc. is indicative of a failing lcd panel or...a loose cable connector. There is no repair for this type of problem other than screen lcd panel replacement or secure the loose connection.

I have a x223w monitor that if you try to set higher than1280 x 768 it stretches eveything horizontally

Does your video-card allow you to set a resolution of 1680 by 1050?
(This is exactly 16 pixels horizontally for each 10 pixels vertically.)
This is the "native" resolution of the X223W monitor.

If not, pick a supported resolution that keeps the 16-to-10 ratio.

Acer widescreen extend sides when setting old resolution

You have entered the area between a rock and a hard place. The older games are not aware of the possibility of a wide screen. Either put up with the fat and large images or get a second 4X3 ratio monitor for your older games.
I do not know of any driver to do what you are asking.

1inch black line down right hand of screen

Sounds like an inverter problem. If the power supply is internal replace the capacitors coming out of the voltage regulators. These are usually 1000mf and/or 470mf. If that doesn't do the trick look up the numbers on the 8-pin chips that drive the secondary transformers on the inverter to see if they are getting the right voltages.
Good Luck!

Red Line

I was just looking at Samsung's site regarding this issue. It is most likely a line of dead pixels. Direct from their site: "The thin red, green, blue, white, black, or yellow line you see running through your LCD monitor is most likely a line of dead pixels. To fix this problem, you will have to get your monitor serviced or, if the monitor is new, replaced. To set up a service appointment, contact Samsung Customer Care at 1-800-Samsung (1-800-726-7864). Have your monitor's model number and serial number on hand when you call." http://erms.samsungusa.com/customer/sea/jsp/faqs/faqs_view.jsp?PG_ID=1&AT_ID=15336&PROD_SUB_ID=28&PROD_ID=-1
