I would suggest calling technical support to see if the sim card you are using is even compatible with your laptop, you should not be having this problem if it is.

Screen stays on Dell opening screen on XPS 1640

Take battery out and let the power drain-out for 30-mins.

After that, (with the battery still out,) plug-in the AC-adapter/charger and try to power it on.

If all is good, then when you get a break, you can shut it down normally and re-install the battery.

How can i use the sim card slot given behind my battery of dell studio 15 laptop? which type of sim card is supportable?

The SIM card is for a mobile data plan. If you go to say...AT&T and purchase a wireless data plan on the cellular network and insert the sim in the back of your laptop you will have internet access on the cellular network.

In my dell studio 15, there is a sim card slot at the battery compartment. what is the function of it?

That slot is an ExpressCard Slot for WWAN cards that require a sim card in order to connect to the provider's network. Not all WWAN cards require sim cards to connect. If you get an ExpressCard WWAN card, and that card requires a sim to connect, then usually there will be a place on the card itself to put the sim. The sim slot in the battery bay is because most mini-cards do not have room to add the required sim card slot and still fit into the system.
