Question about Dimplex Heating & Cooling

Open Question

I have a dimplex opti-myst cavendish CSH20.... It is 1yr old and has stopped misting. The lights work, the fan works, the plate gets hot when I take the sump out to clean yet again. Does it work with a ultrasonic inducer cos if it does that should last a lot longer than a year? My first fire was replaced no problem by dimplex as they say there were probs with that particular batch, but said there was no guarentee with this new one. I live in a very soft water area, no limescale, but always use filtered water....until it stopped misting and i tried distilled water to see if that had any effect, made no diff. And the girl said it was the very worst water i could have used, she was a bit of a bossy madam too! Any ideas?

Dimplex dakota heater is working but flame effect is not its led I think not bulbs.

Says you can turn it on and off? Did you knock the switch?

Can I operate the flame effect on the fire without the heat?
All our Optiflame and Opti-myst fires can be operated on a flame-effect only setting, as can the flickering flame effect on our freestanding bar fires.

Is the flame effect expensive to run?
No, to run the flame effect involves powering light bulbs and a small electric motor and in most cases costs no more than a couple of pence an hour. Some of our fires have LED lamps fitted which are even more energy efficient.

Some have bulbs, some have LED.
Example calculations:
Using UK standard average price of electricity of 14p/kWh (source: Energy Saving Trust Feb 2015)
Optiflame LED flame effect only (eg Danesbury) = 0.1p every hour
Optiflame conventional bulb, effect only (eg Cheriton) = 2p every hour
Opti-myst, flame effect only (eg Oakhurst) = 3p every hour
Opti-V single screen = 0.5p every hour
2kW fan heater, on constantly (no thermostat) = 28p every hour

Optiflame lightbulbs for sale. Remove the coals and check for bulbs.

On a Dimplex Cavendish CSH 20 the smoke effect and lights do not operate. What should I be looking for\r\nNeil

Right off hand, I'd say the light bulbs are burned out and need to be replaced. The model you listed comes in 2 editions, one with a misting effect and the other without. In both, the bulbs are replaced the same way - by opening the sump door to access the bulbs.

To further help you, I have included a link to the Owners Manual for your model. You may download and print it for future reference.

Hope this helped you resolve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

I have a Dimplex CS1205. Plug hot and melted outlet cover.

Many people think melting plugs and outlets are caused by the appliance that is plugged into them. It is very likly that the outlet is worn or loose or wiring connections are loose or the receptical is faulty. Arcing is a major cause for this condition and all of the above issues can cause arcing. This condition usually only happens when high draw appliances are plugged into the outlet. So a lamp could work fine in the outlet for 10 years then a toaster or heater is plugged in and a loose connection causes current to jump from the receptical to the plug prong which inturn causes tremendous heat.

Ceiling Fan Light Switch stopped working

I was able to resolve the problem. It turned out that the light fixture part that I had received from the associate at The Home Depot was the wrong one. I needed a 3 speed not a 2 speed replacement part. However, I ended up not even needing that. Once I took the fan apart and watched it malfunction, I could see that the clear part holding the fixture rope on my older fan had another circular piece in the center that had become loose but had not fallen out. I simply used a very small piece of blue paint tape to seal back in place. Since the area doesn't get hot, I found this to be a suitable solution. Thanks for your help.
