Tap F8 during startup and select recovery console
Format your drive with windows in there

However if you haven't got a Windows XP CD what are you going to do after you have formatted the drive?

My flash drive is 2gb. the flash drive is empty and has nothing on it but it says that there is only 15 MB available.

First thing I would try is a quick format. Go to My Computer, right click the drive, choose Format.

How to reformat my laptop, toshiba satellite u 300.thansk

with what operating system?

There are two ways...

(1) take the hard drive out and connect it to another computer, right click on the drive, and click format

(2) You need a windows or other operating system disk....just start it like you were going to install windows, and select advanced disk options (it's a link, easy to overlook but it's always there)

You can not format a disk with a running operating system on it.

There are other "bootable" disks you can also format the hard drive with...an Acronis Backup boot disk, probably a Norton Ghost boot disk....things like that...not all bootable CDs, but usually a backup or disk imaging program will allow you to format a hard drive

How i can formatted drivers need

Respected giruj, you can formate your drive in two methods.

First, go to my computer and then right click on the drive (that required to formate) choose formate and select file system (NTFS, FAT 32) and then click on OK. There will be apeared a message, choose yes and go ahead for formatting. In the end, insert the bootable CD of Windwos and during the installation process, format drive C, now your drive have formatted and you can install your OS so continue for windows installaion.

Second, Use bootable disk of Hiren's which have Partition Magic. Run partition magic and then choose your drive and then right click on the drive select formate and then type ok. Then choose next drive and revise the same procedure, one by one on every drive. After completing this procedure click on apply and then take a reboot. Now your drive have formatted and you can install your OS.

Good Luck

no, checking the Hard Disk using windows tools does not format the hard disk. You data would still be there.

Thank you

If you didn't get a cd with your laptop, the laptop manufacturers usually set up a special recovery partition so that your system can be restored to its' original factory condition (of course, doing this will wipe out _all_ of your data). Your start menu should have an entry that says "recovery", or something similar. The recovery process should also provide you with an opportunity to make your own recovery cd (or dvd). I strongly recommend that you take the time to do so before going any further. That way if you have a hard drive issue you won't be stuck out in the cold with no operating system.
