GE Washer Model WJSR2080V3WW Agitates, Pumps, but will not Spin
My GE washer will agitate and pumps out the water but will not spin. The belt is tight. The shaft that goes through the clutch housing spins when washer is poweredon, but clutch housing does not spin. I can turn it by hand in one direction but it is locked up in the opposite direction. When machine is not powered up, I can move clutch housing freely in both directions.It appears to click in when in spin cycle but does not move. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou!!!!

I solved the mystery of the non spinning washing machine by GE. I pulled the agitator off and to my horror was a broken " hub". This the part in the middle of the basket under the agitator. The transmission shaft comes up through the center of it. Any way, it was severely broken and wedged in so it would not spin. Not sure if this is the only problem but I am going to buy a new machine. I can not get it unbolted to replace the hub and don't want to **** around with it. THANKS.

Either the belt broke or the hood switch is not working. Sometimes it could be the contacts in the main control knob but if everything else is working correctly, then check the belt, and the hood switch first.
You have what is called "agitating dogs" there are usually 4 of them at the bottom of the agitator. They have small grippers which lock onto the agitator and agitates. If the washer is ever overfilled or over time filled to heavy this will wear down the nylon teeth on the "dogs". The top of the agitator will spin off, you will see a bolt inside at the bottom, remove bolt and the agitator will pull out. Google "agitating dogs on washer. It will give you pictures for a better understanding. If the belt was broken the washer would not drain, because the belt turns the pump. These dogs are about $5 and honestly easy to install. The problem is the agitator coupler (about $ 7.00) simply pull straight up on the agitator - Give it a good tug. take the one bolt holding the coupler off - pull straight off. Replace the coupler and bolt (they are sold together). Line the agitator lines up with the coupler lines - when they line up it should go all the way down and snap back into place. and your done.
I think you may have a stopped up pump does it drain the water out if not it will not spin. A putty knife inserted 2 inches in from each side will release the spring catches and gently pull on front as you release sprins then look to the bottom right hand side and there is the pump clamp the tub to pump hose or **** water out with a shop vac take off tub to pump hose and then two 3/8 in screws that hold down the pump turn over where you can look in the pump may have an obstruction as always disconnect power before service.
If the motor is running, your washer probably has a frozen pump pulley or a broken pump belt. To check the pulley, remove the pump from the washer and try to rotate the pulley manually. If it doesn't turn freely--if it's frozen or stiff--replace it. If the pump belt is broken or looks quite worn, replace it--but be sure to check the pump pulley before you change the belt.

The motor coupler may be broken. Many Whirlpool®-manufactured washers use a small, relatively inexpensive motor coupling. It's possible for a motor to burn out in one direction and continue to operate in the other. If this happens, you need to replace the entire motor.
The transmission may not be shifting properly. Older washers produced by Whirlpool® have a transmission with an electro-mechanical shifter. If the shifter becomes even partially defective, the unit may drain the water but not spin. This is a complex system, if your washer has a shifter problem, you may want to hire a qualified appliance repair technician to repair it.
The spin bearing or basket drive may be worn or seized. These components allow the inner tub to spin freely inside the outer tub. When this is the problem, you usually hear a loud sound during the spin cycle. Call a qualified appliance repair technician.
It spins only with the lid closed
