Dont know how many times Ive told people that recovery disks are not worth a w""k...
you can still enter bios so can you not choose reset to default.
default settings will detect bootdisks.
other than that you will have to remove the rtc battery..
on some models its located in the mem compartment but in most you have to partially strip down pc to access motherboard..it looks like a large digital watch battery...you need to remove it for a minute or so then replace ..reassemble pc and reboot...there is software to do this but unfortunatly you need the use of the cd as its a bootdisk.
next time you want to recover use xp disk or install recovery software..if you want recovery software for future and lets hope its the near future let me know and I'll give you link for it (send me ur email)

I need to press a key on my keyboard to start factory recovery

Hi and welcome to Fixya!

In order to revert the machine back to its factory setting, you need to have the recovery disk (if you don't have it, call the warranty support line of e-machines so they can provide it to you).

To restore Windows from your recovery discs, you will need to
insert the first backup disc and enable the F12 Boot Menu via the BIOS Setup
Utility.
1 Turn on your computer and insert the first system recovery disc into the
optical disc drive. Restart your computer.
2 During startup when the eMachines logo shows, press the F2 key to enter
BIOS Setup, where you can set system parameters.
3 Use the left and right arrow keys to select the Main submenu.
4 Use the up and down arrow keys to select F12 Boot Menu.
5 Use the F5 or F6 key to change F12 Boot Menu to Enabled.
6 Press the ESC key to enter the Exit submenu, press the ENTER key to Exit
Saving Changes. Press the ENTER key again to select Yes. The system will
reboot.
7 After rebooting, when the eMachines logo shows, press the F12 key to
open the Boot Menu. Here you can select which device to boot from.
8 Use the arrow keys to select the IDE1*, then press the ENTER key. Windows
will be installed from the recovery disc.
9 Insert the second recovery disc when prompted, then follow the onscreen
prompts to complete the restore.
10 Remove the recovery disc from the optical drive once the restore is
complete. Do this before rebooting your computer.

Hope this helps!

My acer aspire 5920 is in chinese and i need to know how to change to english

Hi,
use your XP install disc (or Vista or whatever OS you use) to boot up your laptop and do a Repair Install. Usually you will get a prompt to "Boot from CD by pressing any key." during the power up of your laptop. If you dont get that option, reboot and go into BIOS and change your boot order ie have the CD drive as first boot option followed by your hard drive. Then try booting again with your XP disc in the cd drive.
You can change the language to English during a Repair installation but you may have to re-enter your serial number and activate again on-line again.
Cheers,
Steve

Cant restore acer netbook back to facotry settings did not do backup when purchased

Recovery procedure for Acer netbooks.

Important Information

The Recovery disc will help you to restore the hard drive with the original software content that was installed when you purchased your notebook. Follow the steps below to rebuild your hard drive. Your drive will be reformatted and all data will be erased. It is important to back up all data files before you use this option.

Restoration procedure:

1. Press the power button to turn the system on.

2. Select to boot from a USB optical drive. There are two ways to do this:

2.1. Press <F2> during the Power-On Self-Test (when the Acer logo is displayed onscreen after bootup) to enter BIOS Setup.

2.1.1. Select the Boot menu.

2.1.2. Refer to onscreen instructions to set the first device to any bootable optical disc drive.

2.2. Press <F12> during the Power-On Self-Test (when the Acer logo is displayed onscreen after bootup), and select the USB ODD from the list that appears.

3. Ensure the Recovery disc is in an external (USB) optical disc drive, and exit the boot selection menu, by selecting Exit Saving Changes from the Exit menu or pressing <F10>, or by pressing <Enter> as appropriate.

4. Select Exit Saving Changes from the Exit menu or press <F10>.

5. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation process.

6. When you finish the recovery process, please remove the Recovery disc and insert the System disc again.

7. Restart your computer.

Create a Recovery USB device

You will need a second computer with an ODD to complete this procedure.

1) Insert the Recovery CD into the optical drive. Plug in a USB/flash drive with a minimum capacity of 1 GB.

2) Enter the BIOS setup and set the first boot device to the ODD. Save the changes and exit.

3) Allow your computer to boot up.

4) From the list of options, select "install2usb".

5) You will see a list of available disks, select the USB drive you plugged in.

6) Click the next button to complete the procedure.

7) Remove the USB ODD and USB/flash drive. You now have the Recovery system stored in your USB/flash drive, for future use if necessary.

HOW CAN I RESTORE MY ACER TRAVELMATE 2200 without the original disk??????????????? NOW CAN U ANSWER THAT...ASAP

Hello !

Note: the recovery process helps you restore the C: drive with the original software content that is installed when you purchase your notebook.

You can try ALT+F10 or CTRL+F10 during the initial boot cycle. This should prompt the laptop to access the recovery partition on the hard drive.

If it doesn't work :

Activate BIOS Setup Utility, press <F2> during POST.

Check the BIOS settings.

a Check to see if "Acer disc-to-disc" function is enabled or not.
b Make sure the [Acer D2D Recovery] setting in [Main] is
[Enabled].
c Exit the BIOS Setup Utility and save changes. The system will
reboot.

Hope this helps.
