Question about Linksys BEFW11S4 Wireless-B Broadband Router (12503024)

Have wireless connection, but can't get online

HELP! I have a BEFW11S4 wireless acccess point rounter (linksys). I've had this router for a few years, but stopped using it for a while because I didn't need it. Tried to reconnect it. Everything is connected properly, and my wireless network picks up the wireless connection, but I can't connect to the internet (it works when I plug the ethernet cord from the wireless router to my laptop). HELP! I saw a suggestion to uninstall the software, but I couldn't find anything on my computer to uninstall. I've tried trouble shooting on Linksys website, but to no avail. And I am not tech savvy so much of the lingo escapes me. Does anyone have any suggestions? (Step-by-step would be much appreciated)

The wireless device in my laptop is working fine. I can't connect to the internet but I'm connected to my wireless router on my desktop with excellent signal. I'm not sure why it's not connecting with the internet. I was able to get on yesterday but my security settings for the wireless router were disabled. When I was trying to get my laptop connected again I must have changed something on the laptop. It keeps telling me that the local network is unplugged, whatever that means. I can't seem to connect it. Can anyone help?

Hello...another step to try is to check your wireless network adapter, within the Device Manager:

    1. On your laptop, locate the Device Manager (if using Windows). One way is to go to Start > Run (for Windows XP only) > type devmgmt.msc in the box you see, and click OK.

You can also access it via the Control Panel >System >Hardware tab (in XP)

    2. You should now see the Device Manager. Next to Network Adapters, click any ‘+’ you see to locate the Wireless Network Adapter. First, are there any unusual symbols there, such as a yellow exclamation mark?

A yellow exclamation mark may (for example) indicate a problem with the driver - which is the software that makes the adapter work with your computer.

Even if you don't see any unusual symbols, it is still worth trying to update the adapter driver. I don't know your operating system (eg, Vista or XP) so can only give general advice; but if you right-click the wireless adapter in Device Manager, you should see options which enable you to update the driver via the web.

If the new driver does not help, you can roll it back from the same place.

An updated driver may solve the problem. However, this is only a suggestion, so if it does not help, please come back to Fixya...

Linksys wireless router has many bugs: connection issues like no connection or constantly having to reset the router. It isn't compatible with many network adapters. Hope this helps!

I can setup my linksys befw11s4 v.2

You can do it manually without the CD.
Make sure that your computer is able to go online through the modem.
If your computer is not able to go online through the modem then you will need to call ISP first.
If your computer is able to go online through the modem
then you need to connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP.

My Linksys BEFW11S4 Wireless-B Broadband Router? i cant connect in my internet and my PSP how can i do to connect it?

Set up an open wireless network or with WPA encryption. The PSP supports WEP/WPA but not WPA2 or Wireless G, it's a B device.
Also use a short passphrase and DHCP to lease IP Addresses.

My Router is out of warranty how do I troubleshoot it?

Hi, the BEFW11s4 sometimes is just a plug and play router. If your internet is working when your pc is connected to the modem, just do this steps.

1:Lets reset the BEFW11s4. with the power on, push the reset button at the back of the router for 30seconds, unplug the power of the BEFW11s4 for 10 seconds.

2:Disconnect the pc from your Comcast modem. Connect the ethernet cable from your modem to the INTERNET PORT of the BEFW11s4. Connect the pc to the BEFW11s4. NOTE; MAKE SURE THE PHYSICAL CONNECTION IS CORRECT.

3.Open INTERNET EXPLORER. ONLINE OR NOT?

A. IF ONLINE, clear the address field then type 192.168.1.1, if it ask you for a username and password, then we are ok. THE ROUTER IS ALREADY WORKING.

B. IF NOT ONLINE, TURN OFF PC, TURN OFF BEFW11S4, TURN OFF THE COMCAST MODEM. WAIT FOR 3 MINUTES

TURN ON MODEM, WAIT FOR 3 MINUTES, TURN ON BEFW11s4, WAIT FOR 3 MINUTES, TURN ON COMPUTER

IF STILL NOT ONLINE. Open internet explorer, type on the address field 192.168.1.1, username(nothing, as in blank), password(admin), click ok.

It will take you to the Linksys configuration page(Purple and white screen. On the screen you can see tabs

SETUP WIRELESS APPLICATIONS AND GAMING
MAC CLONE

CLICK THE MAC CLONE TAB, then click on Clone or Clone your pc mac, the save settings at the buttom. After this try the internet. If still offline, unplug the power of the BEFW11s4 for 10 seconds, try the internet again. It should be working now.

If still offline, do STEP 3B AGAIN. IT SHOULD BE WORKING ALREADY. IF THIS DOES NOT WORK, you really have to buy a new router.

I have solved this exact problem more than a thousand times. It always work if the router is still ok.

Good Luck

Linksys BEFW11S4-RM 4 port wireless router

This is an old router. Look at the power light. You must have a STEADY power light. RESET the BEFW11s4 by pushing the reset button for 30seconds. Unplug the power of the BEFW11s4 for 30 seconds. Connect pc to port 2 or 3. pc should get an ip of 192.168.1.x. If you are getting this ip that means that the pc is already detecting the router.

Drivers 4 Linksys BEFW11S4 ver. 4

Your wired network adapter will talk to a wired router without a driver for the router on your computer. Your wireless adapter likewise will talk to your wireless router without a driver for the wireless router on your computer. Your wired and wireless adapters however do require drivers and the wireless adapter can require configuration. Please provide the manufacturer and model of your computer so I can learn about your wireless adapter and we can work to get it connected to the router.

Do you currently have your router connected to your internet service providers connection and do you have another wired or wireless computer successfully using this device to access the internet?
