Question about Computers & Internet
Then you have either a bad battery or bad connector on the tablet. It is also possible although less likely that the power button does not work.

If you know for sure the cord is good, make sure the battery is. If the battery checks out, most likely is a bad connection port on the tablet itself. normally caused by a cold weld.

Hey, definely sounds like the power jack is your problem, i have seen many companys including ourself soldering on the jack, but there never the same, ie easilly broken off again.
i dont think your power jack is making direct contact, i know you can move it about till u get the charge.
but i would say thats your fault..
Sorry i cant help more
Have a good new year

If you put strain on the jack (e.g. hang power adaptor from it whilst using or charging) then the socket on the mainboard can get hot due to poor contact and melt.
There is no way to fix this except to completely dismantle the laptop and fit a new socket - most likely a repair centre will charge you for a new mainboard.
Try another adaptor to see if that is the problem (broken wire in cord) - otherwise look closely at the socket in the notebook.

Try checking the power management settings in control panel.
& if there all set correctly, Then take the battery out & plug in the charger. It should run on it's own.
If it doesn't the chargers gone, but if it does run then put the battery back in whilst it's still on. If still no joy then wiggle & bend the cable from top to bottom & all the joints to check for breaks or bad connections, But leave the laptop switched on so that you can hear it bleep every time you hit a fault.
GOOD LUCK if you get stuck contact me for free advice...

It's a motherboard hardware issue in all likelihood.
There is NOTHING you can do but update the firmware bios. The problem is that most bios firmware update programs require both ac and battery power at the same time :(
You can try to do it anyways by visiting Toshiba's support page for your model and downloading the firmware from there.
It probably won't fix the problem but it's still worth a shot....sometimes it works ;)

SOURCE: laptop wont power up HP-Compaq
It sounds like you need a new battery. They do go bad over time. You can probably find a replacement at a battery store or an office supply store. That way, you can try it out and make sure that is the problem. If replacing the battery doesn't fix your problem, you can always return it to the store (or just keep it as a spare).
If replacing the battery doesn't solve the problem, then there is most likely a problem with the port where the power connector plugs in to the laptop. You'll want to contact the manufacturer about that kind of repair, though some local shops might be able to do it.
