Remove the spark plug and clean it with rubbing alcohol and let it dry or blow dry it. Look at the carburetor. You will see two small screws next to each other. Those are the fuel/air mixture screws. one controls fuel, the other controls air. First check the air filter to see if it is clogged with dirt and debris... if it is, wash it in a soap and hot water solution and let it dry. After it dries out, reinstall it. Then turn the air/fuel mixture screws in GENTLY all the way. Turn them out one and a quarter turns. Check your fuel/oil mixture to see if you have the correct ratio of oil to fuel (most machines run on a 40/1 ratio... 40 parts gas to 1 part oil in other words, 40 ounces of gas to 1 ounce of oil. If your fuel/air mixture screws are one and a quarter turns out, the fuel/oil mixture is correct and the air filter is clean, the motor should start. You will need to adjust the fuel/air mixture screws a little to get the saw running to your satisfaction.

Gets fire and gas wont start

Be careful with primerbulb especially if use alkylat fuel for a fuel surplus some times remove the sparkplug and holding the mufler in down to the ground position so to release the surplus out of the machine , if that is not working after replace sparkplug and starting , then you can have a problem with compression but first the spark of your machine must be colored white/blue and not red. if thats also good then remove the muffler and look on the exhaustside of your piston if there are grooves on then you know whats wrong in the fastest time if that is not that it looks smooth like a mirror then seals on the crankshaft , tankairiation good ? gasket(s)carburetor and cilinder underside .

I just got a ms290 stihl chainsaw off someone and he said it had been sitting for couple yearsit won't start and when pulling to start it feels kind of hard to pull what should I do

Allways before check the piston first remove as first the muffler to look at the exhaust port turn the flywheel and look if the piston that its smoot like a mirror , because if you see grooves then there is much (expensive) work to do (sometimes the case of the hard to pull ) or its only dry but be carefull by pulling also the oilpump that will not turn can made that pulling triggering heavy !!!! , but if all looks nice then the following handling will help remove the rest of chainoil if its in the machine and control first the oil pump and control that you can turn it by hand , remove also the gasoline, remove the chain and blade feel if the clutch rotates remove the sparkplug fill the cilinder with much wd40 and fill the carter with or aspen 2t or spray the carburetor with carburetor chocke cleaner let it stand for a day special controle of the fuel lines and the tank aeriation and fuel-filter after a day pull the trigger wikth the exhaust direction to the ground so the fuel surplus from carter and cilinder can lost the machine fill the tank with aspen or motomix and try to see if the primerbulb is working pull again with the muffler to the ground but give it air and after a ten times pulling reassemble the sparkplug fill also the chainoil tank wait with the chain blade and chain . set the ignition in the stop/start mode --ON and give it full chocke use no primerbulb if it gives fuel and you not shure remove the airfilter from carburetor . if it wil not work look at the compression and the blue color of the spark that must come from the sparkplug. if its a red colored spark replace sparkplug and if its still red colored the ignition coil is bad. that can the cause to do away such a saw as owner.

My 2006 Nissan primastar burning engine oil

Do a dry compression test then wet, if compression is same wet as dry, then engine is worn or valves bent or worn, if one or more cilinders compression is higher for wet test, then you have broken ring(s).

What causes generator not to turn on?

Much times there is an oil level protection activated between the motor ignition.
Or the oil level is to low or its damaged (little change but ?) disconnect it only for a short test period only after controlling when there is realy enough oil insite.
tankfilter nozzle float chamber airfilter , sparkplug , ignition coil , electric field. electronic voltage regulator , a cilinder valve problem and many more . on/off switch dirth .....

I had 92 honda civiv hatchback, the sparkplugs get wet with engine oil from vave cover, does sparkplugs has its own individual seals?

The spark plugs, if getting wet from the engine oil dripping off of the valve cover gasket, is not good.
The boots of the spark plug wires will prevent the contacts from getting oily, but not for long. I would have the valve cover gasket replaced to prevent this from happening. It's not good to get the spark plugs and wires wet with engine oil.

Ran chainsaw with brake on and chainsaw will not start now

Too much fuel at the sparkplug. The fuel accumulated in the cilinder because of brake left.Put the button in off position, remove the sparkplug and dry it,pull the starter for a while until the fuel is out from the cilinder.Put the sparkplug and start the engine.
