Question about Technics Audio Players & Recorders
No sound from left channel on my Technics SA-R230 Receiver no matter what source of input is selected. Would like to know what internal part / parts need to be replaced in order to repair.
May just be bad connections on the speaker relay. Flip the main board over, and check those connections. It is pretty common on these older models.

SOURCE: Noisy channel of receiver
Generally, crackling noises come from anyplace there is a mechancial connection for the sound signal. The volume control, main/remote speaker switch and possibly the headphone jack. That is where the contacts must be cleaned, but it requires dissassembly. Try operating the main/remote speaker switches, and plug/unplug a headphone several times. I am assuming there is still audio behind that crackling. Are you using both main and remote speakers simultaneously?

Use a multitester to check the amps then you can find which amp it is.Under the cover youll see two boards on a aluinum plate.

The question is, do you hear any sound? Is just the display off or is the entire unit shutdown? Can you tell?
These displays are known to develope poor solder connections at the power input and ground pins. If you can solder, open up the unit (unplugged of course) and examine the pins for the display. This will be on the PC board attached to the front panel. The pins at either end of a long line of pins will be the power and ground pins. Reasolder those pins, taking care not to short the pins together and try the unit once done. If that does not resolve the problem (assuming it is just a display problem), update this with as many details as you can about the behavior of the unit and we'll look further.
