My jaguar 2.0d boot lid will not close or lock

Jaguer 2.0d . the boot will not close at all. all other locks on car are working ok. i took the boot lid lock off and disconnected wires.then i noticed that the motorised leaver had the lock in the open position so then i removed the motorisid leaver[2 torq screws]and then the lock worked ok. the motor has the lock stuck in the open position . i get the feeling that there is no power to motorised leaver but the alarm side to the boot works. is there a fuse that would do this as i think every thing els works .

i have already tried pressing the button with the lock in my hand and all wires connected and still nothing. i have also tried the same with the key then going back to the button . could it be a fuse? thanks wend

i solved this problem . the problem is that the motorised leaver is sticking. remove the plastic cowl by first removing screw like clips then remove 3 torq screws which hold the lock in place .unplug wires. once the lock is removed you will see that the motorised leaver has the lock stuck in the open position. remove the motorised leaver by removing 2 torq screws. next you will need to send 12volts though the motorised leaver motor . just touch the wires on to the to terminals first one way then revers the wires which will send the motor the other way at the same time tap the the motor and it should releas the motorised leaver. you may have to try a number of times . oil and replace

Hi, I've got the same problem with my 54 plate X type 2.0 diesel, what I've done was removed the lever from the mounting frame then tap and lubricate the lever using grease spray then pressed the remote boot release button, the lever worked back after awhile. but do you think this is a concern issue that needs to be relayed to the Jag Dealers for recall of this type of lever model by trhe way the lever was produced by Ford.

How do you open trunk if battery is dead

Use your ignition key to unlock the boot (trunk) by inserting it into a small keyhole under the chrome lift on trunk lid. It took me a while to figure it out when I first purchased my jag.

1997 jag 3.2 immobiliser won't deactivate when key in ignition

i'd take to a jag specialist as they will know the exact alarm jaguar used on your model as they use a lot of other make equipment and you do need to know jags to get the right part for the particular vehicle, you could try a jaguer forum as these places are full of info like that

1997 XK8 JAGUAR the BOOT WILL NOT CLOSE, HOW CAN I FIX IT?

this is an electrical part and most probably needs to be replaced , but if it does not go into the lock it self ( Lock is closed while boot is open ) , you need to open manually with a screw driver and then close your boot

Jaguar x type 2.5 v6 se auto 2001

Mine did the same. The release as you know is electric on the boot rear button - and not mechanical as on other cars. The switch is telling the lock that you want it open still, so it will not latch. Try lightly pushing the button again a couple of times, and it may click off again, and Bob's your Uncle!!! I spent 10 minutes closing the boot lid with varying degrees of slamming before I discovered this remedy. Good Luck!

Peugeot 407 boot wont open

We had a similar problem with a 2008 right hand drive 407;ST HDI Touring. Suddenly the remote would not lock the doors and whenever you drove over 20kph then back under it would keep trying to lock itself. Anyhow after a thorough reading of the manual we discovered that the car will only lock if all the doors are closed properly. What we didn't realise is that the glass panel in the boot lid will also open outward like a flap, to allow smaller parcels to be placed in the boot without having to open the larger boot lid. We owned a Mercedes 300TE which didn't have this feature so didn't think to look for it. This was not closed properly. The handle/release must have been knocked when washing the car. Anyhow, once it was firmly shut everything went back to normal. Good as new.

Boot lid will not open except by use of key

Removed lock solenoid actuator and tested off vehicle, cleaned up terminals and pulled some fuses and relays cleaning wherever I thought necessary, also cleaned locking rod at filler cap with maintenance spray and lubricated mechanism inside boot underneath filler area. Both items now working but still not sure what the cause was.Suspect dirty terminals but these were not readily apparent

Unlocking Boot lid

I am assuming your problem is similar to mine; the key fob isn't dead, but for some reason the boot won't release.  This happens rarely, but can be very frustrating (and embarrassing)!

When neither the key fob nor the release on the boot work, lock and unlock the car, and insert the key into the ignition.  Turn the key to the second stage, i.e. the accessories are powered, and then remove the key.  This ought to allow you to use the fob again.
