What kind of sound? Kind of high pitched? It's probably just the motor checking the printhead assembly. It typically moves around a bit on power up. It's part of the boot up diagnostic check.

it is a little hard to describe it in english, but i did say it is like the sound of an airplane, not increasing, not decreasing. Like i said in the first post the printer don't always do this noise, but when it do it is a few seconds after the starting. I never saw an error message on the screen. The only solution i found to stop this weird sound is to shut down the printer, wait 5-10minutes and start it again. It usually works but i'm still worried about this sound...

The pickup roller is problematic. First clean, then replace if necessary.

The part should be under $20.

To replace (from HP Support):

1. Unplug the power cord from the
printer, and allow the printer to cool.

2. Open the toner cartridge door, and
remove the toner cartridge.

3. Locate the pickup roller.

4. Release the small, white tabs on
each side of the pickup roller by
pushing them away from the roller,
and then rotate the pickup roller
toward the front.

5. Gently pull the pickup roller up and
out.

6. Position the new pickup roller in the
slot of the previous pickup roller.

Note Circular and rectangular pegs on each
side prevent you from incorrectly
positioning the pickup roller.

7. Rotate the top of the new pickup
roller into position until the white
tabs on each side of the roller snap
the roller into place.

8. Reinstall the toner cartridge, and
close the toner cartridge door.

9. Plug the printer in to turn it back on.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: hp 4250 laser jet vertical streak ghost image

Hello,
The problem you are having is caused by the fuser. The fuser is the part in the printer that heats up and basically melts ( fuses) the toner to the page. The fuser has a heat roller that is coated with teflon, your fuser coating has worn off in spots so the toner is sticking to the roller and causing the ghost image. You will need to order a replacement fuser. You can do a search on Google to find a replacement, the parts number is RM1-1082.

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

I have replaced the grey cartridge on my HP T610 desighjet but it give me an error of " Cartridge faulty", but it is a new cartridge, Help please

My recommendation would be the following:

1) Pull the cartridge back out and make sure there are no scraps of plastic or other material on the bottom of the cartridge that might be interfering with the connection.

2) Check the ink well (where the cartridge goes) with a flashlight for the same thing. A 'faulty cartridge' error can sometimes be caused if the ink cartridge is not making a full connection with the printer.

3) Reinstall the cartridge gently but firmly until it's correctly placed based on your user's manual.

If you're still getting the error message, it's possible that the gold contacts were damaged or the cartridge is defective. Your best bet would be to take the cartridge to the place you got it and try to get a replacement.

There's a possibility that it might be a print head problem as well, but I would check everything about the cartridge first. If you try a second grey cartridge and you're still getting the error, you may want to consider replacing the print head. I found a list of supplies for your printer here.

Hope this is helpful!

I have an HP L7680. I have all HP ink cartridges. The printheads read monitor and good. I have printed the diagnostics page and aligned and cleaned the printheads and calibrated. No matter what I do...

Cleaning the print heads can sometimes help and other times aggravate the problem, because cleaning takes a lot of ink out of the cartridges. If the cartridges are emptied using the cleaning procedure, then the cartridges will have to be replaced with new ones.

The ink jet information provided by hp's software can sometimes be just an estimate of how much ink is in the cartridge and not an actual reading by the electronics. So... Try new ink jet cartridges fresh from a package to see if that solves the problem, and make sure that the contacts are blown free of dust or dirt.

Good luck on this repair.

My HP Office jet Pro 8500 wireless is not recognizing my ink cartridges. i have re inserted, changed cartridges, rebooted printer all to no avail. Help

It seems simple enough, but this is one of the most effective ways of fixing printer cartridge error. Mostly, printer cartridge error occurs when the printer head is unable to identify the cartridge properly. And the basic reason behind this is that the cartridge is improperly attached.

To reattach the printer cartridge check the following steps :

  • Turn on the lid of the printer and then remove the cartridge from the printer head.
  • Check the cartridge to make sure that there are no scratches or other damaged parts that can contribute to a printer cartridge error report.
  • Take note that the cartridge should not be left open for more than 30 minutes; otherwise the ink will start to dry up and the cartridge will get clogged.

You helped me CLEAN the HP PSC 1610
it had MASIVE amounts of waisted ink
in the area that it WANTS to waste ink
to keep the cartridges FLOWING...
BUT... NOW ... HERE IS A SOLUTION TO
THE CLICKING NOISE
THE RATCHIT NOISE
HP PSC 1610 NOISE
It seems that HP (as with most all manufacturers)
has DESIGNED-IN A PART THAT WILL BREAK ! ! !
PICTURE ATTACHED
explanation...
opened the mid section of the printer
moved the ink holder module to the far left
pushed the cleaning tray
(it moves to you and away from you)
away towards the rear of the machine
used masive amounts of isopropyl alcohol
and an old toothbrush
to clean most of the gunk ink buld-up
(started with q-tips but it was not enough)
After cleaning ... the machine worked again...
BUT
that noise was still there
after carefull inspection
I saw the problem
there was a hairline crack in a small plastic part
above a rotating gear
when the carriage came to the right
it was suposed to move that part
off or away from the gear
but because it was cracked
it did not move properly
SOLUTION
crazy glue or super glue
and shim to hold in place while drying
(maby heat with a light bulb while drying)

Can i install the HP Deskjet 6122 on a brandnew HP Laptop with vista OS?

"Add a printer" in "My Computer"/"Printers" or "Control Panel"/"Printers". The 6122 will print from the HP 920, 930, 932, 940 & 950 drivers also - (which are included with your Windows XP and Vista systems). If you chose the 970 driver it will want a second sheet of paper to print a test page, which you can ignore and it will stop trying. All drivers seem to be the same print quality in my systems. I do not use the 970 or 6122 driver at all so I don't have an ink level monitor or any possible related potential glitch. I wet and slap stubborn old ink cartridges to un-stick dry jets. sometimes I use a small clear silicone tube to suck a bit of ink to get them started as the jet holes need priming sometimes if they are old.

Yellow won't print with old or new cartridge

Some ink jets are differant. Some have an Ink jet cartridge system that has the print head on the cartridge itself. Others use a seperate print head. When you pull out the ink cartridge is there another small unit below the cartridge that you can pull out? If so that is the print head and you will need to replace it. Also make sure that you have taken off the tape off of the air pilot hole on the ink cartridge so it can work properly. www.tonerovernight.com
