Re: code 12 on my water heater

Code 12 is low gas pressure, or that the flame sensors are not picking up a flame, try removing the flame rods, in a rinnai infinity when you pull the cover off they are right in the middle, you can use a file to clean any carbon etc off,

Rinnai r85 exterior propane tankless water heater makes knocking/clicking noise. seems it tries to start with clicking noise then no fire in burners then cycles again. no error message. have two rinnia...

on start up the clicking noise is normal as well as knocking noise important item with fan , if the fan was removed cleaned and then reinstalled with power to unit could have ruined the fan and it will have to be replaced..... Cant tell you why is wasn't firing before with no codes...other than flow sensor not working( most likey stopped with sand fragments or trash) the flow sensor detects hot water demand and ignites heater and if clogged it will not light up but doesn't give error code and the water running through hot side will be cold..... flow sensor is a turbine that detects water movement and lets heater light..... may want to get serviceman to check this out and clean turbine.... hope this helps...

Hi i have a Rinnia Royale ETR heater and every time i run my gas hot water the heater goes out. It seems as if there is not enough gas to run both at the same time.can you help. thanks Brian

Definitely sounds like there is a gas pressure problem. Are the gas lines feeding both appliances the proper size (at least 1/2" diameter)? Are they natural gas or propane units. If propane, what's the Btu rating of the regulator on the propane tank? If it's to low to handle the two appliance at one time, that could be the problem too.

Heater goes out after 20min error code 12 appears

Definately a gas supply problem. If it was an overheat you would get a different code. Error code 12 meant a flame was there but then went out. The code 11 meant tried to light but no flame sensed. Error code 12 on heaters and Infinites is nearly always a fault on the gas regulator at the bottles. Sure I recognise your company name from up in Queensland. As you might know we hae had problems with an oily residue in some regulators for ages. I am recommending going away from two stage regs and spliting them up with a seperate first stage and then a second stage. Bit more expensive by zero call backs.

My rinnia wont turn on help plz!!

Not much to go on so I am going to assume some things. If unit not getting power (no lights light up) check plug and outlet. Check fuse on circuit board. Check circuit box for a tripped breaker. Is the outlet the heater is plugged into on a light switch?
Is the unit getting gas? Check the shut off behind the door on the right side of the heater. Is it on? Is your gas meter turned on or is there gas in your propane tank?
Lastly, is there any error codes? You can check by turning the heater off and then all at the same time press on the Economy button, the up arrow and the down arrow and hold for three seconds.

Need a diaphragm for my rinnia water heater reu 56es

Sounds like tank froze with water in it. Have you checked the connections on the top of the heater they could be leaking also i would check water lines around that area for tees or 90 degree fittings. You can pull heater out and try to check it out. you can fill water heater with water to check to see if heater has a crack in it.
