Can you use an external USB keyboard?
The mousepad may be disabled in the BIOS. Youll meed to get into the BIOS before it boots.

Or it can be driver problem...reinstall the driver..

    I tried a USB mouse it did not work I tried to rest the laptop but it would not rest please help I don't want to buy a keyboard for it not to work

Hi,

To fix the problem,
please press the connect connect button on the bottom of the mouse and the connect button on the reciever and relaese both the buttons together. this would rest the wireless connection and then the mouse should work fine.

Logitech wireless mouse and keyboard


Normal 0 Press the Receiver button (and the lights will start flashing.
Then if the Keyboard isn't working, press the small RESET/CONNECT button on the back of the board to connect the keyboard to the receiver.

If the MOUSE isn’t working, push the small RESET/CONNECT button on the back of the mouse to connect to the receiver. Then they should work okay.

Labtec keyboard quit working suddenly


Here is the sequence to connect keyboard and mouse to receiver:

Press Connect button on receiver, and within 10 seconds press the Connect button under the mouse. Wait 15 seconds. Then press the Connect button on the receiver and within 10 seconds press the Connect button under the keyboard.

Try changing the batteries in the mouse and then press the little sync button of both the mouse and the wireless receiver.
