Question about Bosch SHX43R55UC Dishwashers : Built in Dishwasher

1 Answer

I just installed a Bosch shx43R55UC/64. Upon starting all lights are on and I cannot select a cycle. When I shut it the unit starts but will not fill with water. The float switch is working, No wat

When manually moving the red arm on the float I can get the drain pump to kick on if it is raised and shuts off when it is lowered. Putting my voltage meter on the float switch I get continuity to change from the top to middle when it is up and from the top to the bottom when switch is down

I get 120 volts down to the water inlet valve but the valve is not opening. I replaced the valve with a new one but still does not open

The float switch appears to be functioning in that I get 120 volts to the inlet valve when float is down and nothing when I manually raise the float.

The water chamber is empty. It does not appear to ever have had anytihning in it

I have also disconnected the line leading to the water chamber and nothing is getting past the inlet valve. I have replaced the inlet valve with no difference

possibly the inlet water valve stuck open tho this is rare.

disconnect the valve electrically and see if the fault is still present. if so, the valve is stuck open and needs replacing

The fill valve is governed by the float switch. I doubt that your fill valve (solenoid) has failed.

Focus on replacing the float switch and you should be all set.

Good Luck!

SOURCE: Hello, my Bosch Classixx dishwasher SGS43E42EU/21

Hello Dave,

Sounds like an overfill problem - the symptoms are consistent with a failed pressure switch. Water enters the dishwasher through a chamber which has a float arm connected to a small microswitch -this is the pressure switch. The concept is similar to that of the float switch for the aqua-stop system.

As the water level in the dishwasher rises, the water level rises in this chamber. Once the dishwasher and the chamber are full, water pressure trips this switch, closing the water inlet valve and the wash cycle then starts.

If the pressure switch doesn't trip, the water level continues to rise and this trips the overfill float switch. This closes the water inlet valve and starts the drain pump. Once the water level has dropped the dishwasher attempts to fill again, but the pressure switch remains closed and the cycle repeats - ad infinitum.

To check the pressure switch you will need the remove the left side panel (when facing the door) and a multi-meter to test the switch with. If you have the necessary equipment and skills to attempt this repair yourself (seems like you do) please let me know and I will provide the relevant details.

Regards,
BElectric

Bosch Dishwasher will not power on

I saw my repair man do the following, which you might try...
Open the door and simultaneously press & hold down the power button with the 2 buttons used on your model to "Cancel & Drain." If the unit comes on it now is in self-diagnosis mode. Release the buttons and close the door. The unit should start to fill with water. Press the power button to exit the mode.

Dishwasher starts, then won't move on from the "Empting" portion of the cycle

I am having trouble with my 5 year old Bosch. When I turn it on it is only on when the door is open. When I shut the door the computer believes it is off. I had a technician come and he tested the switch (which was fine) and said the problem must be in the computer. Then then quoted me $350 to fix it. I would rather buy the computer myself @ $120 and install it. What is your opinion?
